Doubt we give a scholarship just because he lives in Alachua county. Got a feeling that this kid is going to surprise quite a few fans....

I didn't take it that that was implied anywhere in the article.

The staff definitely didn't give him a scholarship just because he's from Gainesville, but some fans seemed to think so when he was a recruit. Not everyone was thrilled that they let him in the class. We'll see if the coaches' evaluation was correct over the next couple of years.

Whittemore was the recipient of the Scot Brantley Trophy last year, given by the Ocala Quarterback Club. So I've kind of taken a special interest. He's a high character, hard working student of the game who was coached by his father in HS. Reports out of practice last year were pretty positive. Hoping he cracks the two-deep next season...

Article stated "some fans" felt he got a scholly because of where he was from.....
