Former Florida Player Feedback: 10 Observations

January 9, 2020

Former Florida defensive end Johnie Church (1992-1995) shares 10 observations on Florida football after the Gators close out an 11-2 season and looks forward to the 2020 season.

1) WHAT A SEASON! We've hit that primer button a few times to really fire back up the Gator Nation. A friendly schedule in 2020 should be a reprieve for us, and the performance of the team over the past two years should help us hover around the Top 5 from week one throughout the season!

2) What we’re losing on offense? A well-proportioned quartet of wide receivers who might have been unsung heroes in the way they helped Kyle Trask transition into the starter's role with ease.

Love to read your observations. Helps when the observer has been in the trenches before. Keep up the good work Johnnie.

Thank you for this. This one with Church and the one with the former UF assistant are the best reads on here because they been through the wars so their opinions hold more weight.

Johnny if you read this what do you think of Jones? Should he be starting or get more snaps at least?

He should definitely get more snaps this upcoming season. My hopes are that we are up bigtime in a lot of games next season so he can get a quarter or so of quality work to transition him (and prepare him if Trask goes down like FF did).

Do you think he knows the offense? Why would our coaches make him run the same keeper play over and over again?
