Here before the recruiting process enters a month long dead period, Florida will host eight official visitors over the weekend.

TARGETS VISITING ELSEWHERE

Almost as importantly as any of the official visitors, two targets - Donell Harris‍ to Texas A&M and Xzavier Henderson‍ to Clemson - are worth keeping an eye on this weekend.

OFFICIAL VISITORS

Johnnie Brown‍

Defensive Tackle
The Skinny:  Brown committed to Florida right before National Signing Day last year and has been solid ever since.

Gervon Dexter‍

Defensive Tackle
The Skinny: There’s no need for a long drawn out writeup here. He is very best prospect on Florida’s commit list. Period. I can see why the staff wanted to bring him in the same weekend as Tim Smith, he has been working on him on the Gators behalf since the Great Gator Grill Out.

Jalen Lee‍

Defensive Tackle
The Skinny: Back in the summer we went from thinking Florida stood a real chance of landing him when he showed up with what had to be almost his entire family, to committing to LSU not long afterward. Now he has rescinded that home-state pledge in order to commit to the Gators.

Clyde Pinder‍

Defensive End
The Skinny:  Florida offered the North Carolina commit late in the process, got him on campus for an unofficial visit for the Florida State game and will now host him for an official visit. The knock on him is that he is shorter than his listed height, but still gets the job done. If you are looking for a recent Gators comparison, start with Omar Hunter. He wasn’t included on Thursday’s Big Board, because after Florida likely lands Tim Smith, would UF really take six defensive tackles in one class?

Mark Pitts

Offensive Lineman
The Skinny: This is a bit of an anomaly in that football programs almost never allot one of their limited amount of official visits to a walk-on candidate. I’ve seen him at a couple of camps, and what stood out the most was his size potential. There’s no downside here for Florida. They took a UCF commit as a walk-on. If he performs well enough to earn a scholarship down the road, great. If not, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Ethan Pouncey‍

Cornerback

The Skinny:  For whatever reason his commitment didn’t quite generate the fanfare that it deserved. Not only does he fill a need, but he is quietly one of the Gators top rated commitments and was one of Inside the Gators top rated summer camp performers.

Jordan Pouncey‍

Wide Receiver
The Skinny: Florida’s previous staff was actually involved with him before he signed with Texas out of high school. The Longhorns’ transfer has two years of eligibility remaining

Tim Smith‍

Defensive Tackle

The Skinny:  Though he may be still officially committed to Alabama, Florida has been the team to beat since the summer. Now, don’t take that to mean that he has been silently committed to the Gators, because he hasn’t. But regardless of his public status, he has had Florida out in-front with the only real advantage the Tide has held is their ability to put players at his position in the NFL when compared to the recent lack of success when it comes to former Gators defensive tackles in the league.

Gervon is going to the best recruiter we have on campus this weekend, hopefully he can sway Hendo and Harris.

Henderson and Harris are visiting elsewhere. Smith is his main target.
