Former Florida Player Feedback: 10 Observations

November 18, 2019

Former Florida defensive end Johnie Church (1992-1995) shares 10 observations on Florida football after the Gators 23-6 victory over Missouri.

1) I like the changes on defense in the backfield! I wrote a few weeks ago that I thought the experiment of having Trey Dean as the starting Star wasn’t working. Marco Wilson has looked much better at the position and overall we're looking more comfortable with the changes that have taken place in the secondary.

2) Let's start a movement: defensive end Jonathan Greenard is a legitimate candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, and some national lineman awards.

I always like and respect your feedback. What do you think of Jones? Should he be getting more snaps and throws? Do you think he is better than Trask?

You really can't tell at this stage. We really haven't given him many possessions utilizing the full passing game during his spots to play. I do think there were a few opportunities to see an extended version of him, but, Trask still has not played a lot of football and needs every rep he can get. I look at it like this, Emory has logged 1000 more game reps than KT if you go back to high school. Live action is extremely important!
