Former Florida football players share their thoughts on this weekend's Florida-Georgia game and their favorite UF-UGA memory as a player.

  • Defensive Lineman Clint Mitchell

This is a must win game for both teams on the biggest stage once again for the Gators this year. The team that can control the clock on offense and get turnovers on defense will win this game.

Georgia doesn’t look as strong as they were the previous two years and Florida is getting better as the season play's on. For Florida to win this game they need to stop the run and force Jake Fromm to throw the ball, so our best players on defense can create havoc by rushing the passer.

The Gators offensive line needs to keep improving, as they have all season, run blocking so that we have a balanced attack on offense.

I used to get goose bumps on the team bus on the way to the game, when you come over the bridge overlooking the stadium and fans tailgating. The atmosphere is electric and one of the best games in the country to be apart of.

I have many great memories as a player and a fan of Florida vs Georgia game. My first Florida-Georgia game was as a fan In 1993 sitting in the stands with my mom as the rain just would not stop and the water just pouring over the bleachers like a water fall. Watching my brother, Jeff Mitchell, block for Errict Rhett as he ran all that wet field was truly a memorable moment. Sacking Quincy Carter with Alex Brown in the final play of the 2000 game always sticks in my head. As well as the 2002 victory when Georgia was undefeated and no one gave us a shot.

  • Defensive Tackle Brandon Antwine

I think that this will be a great week for us. I think the bye week gave us time to get in a great game plan and also time for some of our guys to get healthy.

To win we have to stop the run. Our defensive-line has to get to their quarterback and not leave him back there long enough to complete passes. Getting pressure will also help our defensive backs in coverage - so I'm putting this game on our defensive line. If we can stop the run and apply pressure and finish like we have all year, we win this game hands down.

My most memorable game would definitely be the meeting between Brandon Spikes and Knowshon Moreno! Just the passion in the guys on the field at that time all being around the ball and basically having to pull the leader [Spikes] of the defense off of him was legendary and set the tone for us that year. Spikes definitely deserves Hall-of-Fame honors during this game and it was an honor playing in front of him!

Go Gators! Beat Georgia !

  • Linebacker Brian Crum

If Florida is healthy and play a complete game in all three phases we should win this one. Being from Georgia this was a game that I always wanted to participate in as a kid so they were all memorable.

  • Wide Receiver Ernie Mills

I feel good about this game. The guys have been in a number of big games this year, so the moment is not too big for them.

They need to continue to play with great energy. Stop the run and limit turnovers.

The stadium is literally split 50/50 of fans of both teams. There’s nothing better than that. The “Orange” then “Blue” Rocking the stadium is the BEST! I listened to this game on the radio when I was younger. There’s always a big time atmosphere!

My best memory has to be my senior season in 1990. We won convincingly to end their three game winning streak. I had two touchdowns, capping off my Fla/Ga career with three touchdowns.

  • Fullback Chris Bilkie

I certainly feel more confident this year than I have in a while.  I really believe our coaching staff and subsequent game plans/in-game adjustments will be the difference maker.

We need to be aggressive on the offensive side of the ball by allowing our passing game to open up the run game. We have got to stop the run on defense.  I really hope our defense is healthy to show what we are truly capable of doing.

It is always a rush seeing the mixed crowd.  When I played they alternated how the tickets were divided, one year was alternating sections Fla, Ga, Fla, Ga, really cool scene from the field.

Two games standout for me: 1992 we shut down Heisman candidate Garrison Hearst (41 yards). But mostly 1994, my senior season, the first time in the storied rivalry the game was played at Florida Field in front of an incredible crowd.  And of course we won.  I never lost to Georgia.  Boy they hated us.
