Before actually meeting on the field this weekend Florida and Georgia have been setting the table for this game by battling each other tooth and nail for top prospects who would eventually become the players taking the field on each side on Saturday.

Inside the Gators takes a closer look at three prospects who the teams have battled for that landed in Gainesville, three that landed in Athens, the three top targets landed from the other state and three from this cycle who are being recruited by each right now.

THREE BATTLES THAT FLORIDA WON

* Kaiir Elam‍ - Many thought that Georgia hiring cornerback coach Charlton Warren away from Florida would seal the deal for the Bulldogs, but the Gators landed the ultra talented cornerback in the end for Dan Mullen's biggest head-to-head recruiting win over UGA.

* Trey Dean‍ -  Dean had an offer from Georgia and visited the home state Bulldogs a couple of times the spring before his senior season. They however didn't make his list of finalists before he pledged and ultimately signed with the Gators.

* Kyle Pitts - After visiting Georgia for their spring game and then including the Bulldogs in his top eight the summer prior to his senior season, after he committed to Florida, he pretty much shut recruiting down and signed with UF.

THREE BATTLES THAT GEORGIA WON

* Nolan Smith‍ - He flirted with Florida some last spring, and then, despite his commitment to the Bulldogs, maintained that the Gators were still an option before telling Inside the Gators at The Opening that he was eliminating any school (which included Florida) that wanted him to add weight to play rush end.

* Travon Walker‍ - After speaking highly of Florida at The Opening back in the summer of 2018, he then officially visited Florida in November of last year, but as expected, in the end he stayed home and signed with Georgia.

* Tyrique Stevenson‍ - This one hurt Florida on several levels, including the fact that he is from the Sunshine State and just happened to be committed to the Gators at one point and even stayed committed after Jim McElwain was fired.

THREE HIGHEST RATED FLORIDA PLAYERS FROM THE PEACH STATE

* Brenton Cox - The highest rated composite player on Florida's roster is sitting out the season after transferring from Georgia during fall camp.

* Ty'Ron Hopper - Though he is a bit undersized, he has a ton of talent and should be a good one for the Gators in the future. He will bring even more athleticism to UF's linebacker corps.

* Emory Jones - Because they had Justin Fields in the fold, Georgia was never really a player for Jones' services. He committed to Ohio State early and then Florida flipped him late.

THREE HIGHEST RATED GEORGIA PLAYERS FROM THE SUNSHINE STATE

* Tyson Campbell‍ - He and teammate Patrick Surtain Jr.‍ talked of officially visiting Florida, the Gators could never close the gap between them and the top options on his board.

* Tyrique Stevenson‍ - The one time Florida commit opened things back up right after Dan Mullen was hired. Though the Gators did get him back on campus for an official visit right before he signed, it just wasn't meant to be.

* James Cook‍ - Unlike the two prospects above him, who at least considered the Gators to some degree, Cook never considered UF.

THREE BATTLES THIS CYCLE THAT HAVE BEEN DECIDED

* Marcus Rosemy‍ - The four-star wide out committed to Georgia shortly after officially visiting Florida back in the spring.

* Joshua Braun‍ - This one probably hurts Florida more than Rosemy considering the state of the Gators' offensive line. Here's an in-state lineman who looked perfectly suited for UF, but then UGA swooped in and stole him before he even officially visited Athens.

* Leonard Manuel‍ - At first, by rankings this was going to be Carson Beck‍ in this spot, but he doesn't seem like anywhere near as big a loss comparing his season to Florida commit Anthony Richardson‍, so Manuel gets the spot instead. On the field, he is a big get for Florida. There are plenty of off-the-field questions surrounding him though.

THREE ONGOING BATTLES

* Darnell Washington‍ - Though many have him pegged for Georgia, and that need likely became even bigger when in-state tight end Arik Gilbert‍ choose LSU, Washington absolutely raved about the way Florida utilizes their tight ends compared to Georgia.

* Xzavier Henderson‍ - Florida and Georgia are both still battling Clemson and Alabama for his services in a race that is too close to call. He hasn't visited Gainesville as many times as you would have expected this season considering it may be his brother CJ's last at Florida.

* Tim Smith‍ - While he may be committed to Alabama, it may be safer to call Florida the current leader for Smith. Georgia is very much still in play though and he says he wants to see LSU as well.
