With the regular season halfway over, it seems like a good time to hand out some midterm grades. Here is the Gators’ unofficial two-deep offensive depth chart and our assessment of how each player has performed so far.

QUARTERBACK
Player Comment Grade
Kyle Trask

The offense hasn’t skipped a beat since he replaced Feleipe Franks in the fourth quarter at Kentucky.

Ouch. Worst grades I've ever seen for an 6-0 offense that's top 50ish in the nation. Offensive line deserve some heat but giving starters Fs would have me believe we lead the nation in sacks allowed.

Kyle Pitts B- Haha

I gave Pitts an A+. There was an error in uploading the grades to the website. It's been corrected. Can you explain why Bleich and Delance don't deserve F's?

Staff
I mistakenly left the Pitts grade in place from the spring.

I would love to see what others would grade the right side of the line as well.

First of all, love the work you do and I really appreciate this site. Didn't mean to come off like I was attacking your article.

But F to me means failing and to have two on the offensive line would mean we'd be 2-3 with a coach on the hot seat. Also, I'm a homer and really want to support this team no matter what and even after we lost bad games last year I don't remember seeing grades this harsh from the staff. For a top 50ish offense I'd rate everyone on the offensive line at least C-. I just thought your ratings seemed rather harsh.

As a whole, I probably would rate the offensive line as a C-, but it's different since we're talking about individual players. I think we can all agree that Forsythe, Heggie and Buchanan have been the best linemen, but even they are playing only at an average level, hence the C grade. Then Bleich and Delance have been at least two notches below them, so that's why they got F's. It's all relative.

Emory Jones with a B and KT a B- is a bit perplexing. Trask's passer rating of 168.1 is borderline elite and ranked 17th in the country. Emory is at 118, which if he had enough attempts would be ranked 107th, ironically just ahead of D'Eriq King. I get that KT has to improve at protecting the football but he's more like a B+ with EJ being INC. In EJs last game (his best game where everyone thinks he's about to break out) he was 5 of 7 for 28 yards. He ran the ball for another 13 yds with a long of 6. Obviously there's a trade off in terms of running the offense that Mullen's known for, but imho until CDM is comfortable with EJ's command of the passing game, he will be limited to a couple of packages each game. If KT comes out of this game with 0-1 turnovers, we win in Death Valley on Saturday.......
