Inside the Gators happened to be following Florida head coach Dan Mullen on Saturday in the Swamp when he walked up to Issiah Walker‍ before the Gators took the field against Auburn,

Mullen put his arm around the 6-foot-4 four-star target, showed him the crowd at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, slapped him on the chest and asked, “Do you want to be a Gator?”

Though his reply couldn’t be heard, Walker’s response solicited a huge hug from Mullen.

Within the next 10 minutes Walker tweeted that he had officially committed to the University of Florida.

ITG caught up with Miami (Fla.) Norland high school class of 2020 four-star offensive tackle outside the stadium earlier this evening.

It’s no secret that Walker has been favoring Florida throughout his recruiting process. Just last month he admitted that Florida was leading the pack for his services, but then quickly added that he was still considering the two other in-state programs and wanted to say that all three were even.

However, after Saturday’s visit he said that he no longer wanted to keep it a secret, he had decided that he wanted to commit to Florida quite some time ago.

“I knew, I just didn’t say nothing,” Walker said. “I really didn’t want anybody to know, so I wanted to wait until the Auburn game.”

Walker mentioned that if he was outspoken with his decision he would get a negative reaction from fans. Unfortunately, he also found that people were not fond of him holding off on announcing his commitment either.

In his tweet where he committed to Florida it was clear that the opinions of others were on Walker’s mind.

“I know some people will be disappointed in my decision, but this choice was about me and my family and what is best for my career,” Walker tweeted.

Nonetheless, the drama of the recruiting process is over for Walker. The Miami native plans on signing and enrolling early.

He said he does not plan on taking any other official visits.

The newest Gator cited the coaching staff as the main reason why he decided to commit to Florida. Dan Mullen is someone he wants to play for.

“He’s a family guy,” Walker said. “My parents love being around him, my coach loves being around him, everybody.”

Walker is one of three uncommitted targets included in the ITG Mock Signing Class which was updated on Wednesday.

Now that he is fully onboard, Walker said he is ready to help build this class.

“I just love the school,” said Walker. “Now I’m going after Marcus Dumervil‍.”
