10 Takeaways: Credit the players more so than the coaches

Once again, in what is becoming a disturbing trend under Dan Mullen, Florida played down to their level of competition on Saturday night, but was still able to pull out a come-from-behind 29-21 win over Kentucky.

I write this as the game is being played. Thus some ‘takes’ might seem a bit dated or perhaps even over the top as I write my thoughts ‘in the moment’. Plus, this is a bit more of a ‘raw’ update in that I write what I write and really don’t go back and check the game tape or even worry about grammar or punctuation before publishing the article.

Tough game for Mullen, but kudos to him for calling the end around to Hammond on third down at the end. 99% of coaches would have run it into the line and punted, hoping the D would seal the victory.

Emory will get some packages, nothing more. He is a liability as a passer. One pretty pass, then 2-3 bad ones. Eventually they will load the box when he is on the field.

Hammond is clearly the most underrated player in the team.

I think this review is spot on. Clock management at the end was very questionable. Going to the inside run with LP over and over again with such little success also made no sense.

Over and over on 3 and long we send no pressure. No logical reason. Receivers always get open if given that much time.

You have to tip your cap to both qbs. Felipe is not Tim Tebow but he is a warrior and we should all be hoping for a speedy and total recovery. And in this day when these college kids have no loyalty to their team, Kyle Trask is ultimate team player. Thank you for sticking it out and then shining on this big stage.

Worst coached game? But he takes a dude who had like 2 offers out of HS and gets 19 points for come from behind win. Don't care what you say, we aren't winning that game without Mullen and the culture he is still WORKING to establish.

Disagree on Mullen criticisms- the schemes and play calling were there- guys just missed their blocks- Delance is awful and looks confused on run blocking, Forsythe who was decent- completely whiffed that little corner on the WR screen-he makes that block and its a huge gain...Mullen adjusted plays after halftime including Trask's walk in TD. Grantham i'm Less sure about- D seemed soft at times but we have a lot of guys hurt-Zuniga was big, CJ bigger. Idk what the deal is w Marco but either play or don't play...this team is an 8-9 win team which is a shame bc if we had an O line i think we compete w anyone, but that is football- the ultimate team sport

If Mark Stoops gets a better job watch out. He has outcoached Mullen two straight years.

And yet Stoops came up with zero points after Franks went down.

People can criticize Mullen but look at the last series. They set up the sweep to Hammond on the first down by sending him in motion. That's pretty good In my opinion especially when it mattered the most!

Wilson and Henderson have taken 2 steps back this season.
