We Chomp Chat: Two more confirmed visitors

Now that the Class of 2019 is pretty much already in the books, with only a couple of targets out there remaining, this weekend Florida will turn its attention to the future by hosting quite a few top targets on campus.

First a disclaimer, though it is being referred to as a Jr. Day, Inside the Gators has been told that Florida's big Jr. Day will be held next month and this is a much smaller, more concentrated group of targets.

To be clear, as is always the case with events such as this, not everyone on the list will show up and there will be some surprises who do.

On to the position-by-position breakdown:

This is a position where Dan Mullen has quickly transformed the talent level. Not only has he added Emory Jones and Jalon Jones in the first two classes, there is an opportunity to further elevate the talent level in the coming cycle with a commitment already from Anthony Richardson‍ and are definitely trending upward with Alabama commit Carson Beck‍.

There may not be an extensive list of backs due in, but there doesn’t need to be when an expected visitor - Demarkcus Bowman‍ - is one of the best of the best in the nation and Florida’s top overall target at the position, if not in the entire class.

Florida could potentially lose a handful of receivers after the 2019 season, making this one area where the Gators need to bring in quality and quality. The two confirmed visitors are both already committed, Leonard Manuel‍ and Jaquavion Fraziars‍.

After signing seven offensive linemen in the 2019 cycle, Florida can take a more measured approach in this next cycle. With that being the case, the Gators are set to play host to three four-star linemen in Issiah Walker‍, Jalen Rivers‍ and Joshua Braun‍.

Perhaps even more importantly, the Gators will have All ACC grad-transfer Parker Braun on campus as well.

He could project to either side of the ball on the next level, but regardless of where he eventually lines up, David Daniel‍ is already one of the most sought after prospects in the Class of 2021.

If there is a position where Florida has come up empty more often than not during Dan Mullen’s first two classes it is in landing elite defensive linemen, particularly defensive tackles. This weekend the Gators will have commits Josh Griffis‍ and Gervon Dexter‍ on hand to help get in the ear of targets Johnnie Brown‍, Jordan Butler‍, Morven Joseph‍ and Chantz Williams‍.

The Class of 2020 is loaded in the secondary in-state with many top tier prospects in areas where Florida traditionally recruits well. Though neither are highly rated at the moment, don’t underestimate Jahquez Robinson‍ or Fenley Graham. Each has offers from Florida and both will rise significantly up the rankings as the cycle progresses. Then there’s former Ohio State commit Lejond Cavazos‍ coming along with his teammate Griffis.

Check back on the We Chomp Chat over the weekend as Inside the Gators provides updates and observations from the visitors.
