Defensive end Jonathan Greenard announced via Twitter this evening that he will transfer to Florida from Louisville.

The 6-foot-4, 263-pounder was considered the Cardinals top pass-rusher - with a combined 9 ½ sacks in his freshman and sophomore years - entering 2018, but he missed the entire season after suffering a wrist injury in the season opening loss to Alabama.

Greenard was recruited out of Hiram, Georgia by then Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Grantham in the Class of 2015.

In his one year under Grantham he recorded 2 ½ sacks as a redshirt freshman. Then in 2017 he had a breakout redshirt sophomore season which saw him record 7 sacks and 15 ½ tackles for loss.

The potential impact on Florida is enormous.

Obviously if Greenard’s wrist injury is fully healed he will be the odds-on favorite to step in and replace Jachai Polite after he departed early for the NFL.

His addition will further bolster a postilion group that will also lose CeCe Jefferson, but returns Jeremiah Moon.

Florida also has former five-star Antonneous Clayton vying for time at defensive end this spring after redshirting this past season.
