On Thursday Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett four-star defensive tackle Kayden McDonald tweeted out a final five as well as his planned commitment date.

The 6-foot-2, 325-pounder, who is down to Clemson, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, and Oklahoma, explained why he plans on returning to Gainesville to get one final look at the Gators this weekend.

“For the gameday environment and to see the new facility,” McDonald told Inside the Gators.

As to why Florida made his list of finalists, he provided two main reasons.

“My relationship with the staff and the opportunity to play and make an impact early.”

When he announces at the end of the month, he said he knows what he is looking for in his new home.

‘I’m fortunate that every school has great academics. I’m thankful for all my opportunities. Blessing man. My goal is to get a degree from a top university. My final school has got to have a family environment, compete with the best on my teams on Saturdays, the opportunity to play early, and development on and off the field.”

At this point many feel that Clemson is the ‘chosen one’ and McDonald is just waiting to announce it publicly. McDonald however denies that is the case.

“I’m not silently committed to any school,” said McDonald. “I’ve built relationships with all the coaches recruiting me. Imma keep it 100% with them.”

McDonald is the No. 314 ranked prospect in the nation according to the On3 Consensus.

Impact Scale: 5 There’s no reason not to believe him when he says he isn’t silently committed to the Tigers, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t leaning that way. Of course, Florida could still sway him this weekend, but it feels like there’s work to be done on the Gators’ behalf at this point.
