It took a little longer than he originally anticipated, but on Saturday Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson 2021 offensive lineman George Jackson officially committed to the Florida Gators.
“Great atmosphere. Great fan base. I just finished talking to coach [John] Hevesy. I actually just finished talking to him and committed to the University of Florida,” said Jackson post-game.

Jackson originally visited Florida two weeks ago for the Missouri game, but decided to come back this weekend and make it official. Jackson discussed his decision to commit to the orange and blue.
“I’ve been to a few schools. This is the closest place I feel like I am more comfortable with,” explained Jackson. “I’ve been to a bunch of SEC and ACC schools, but this is the best school I feel comfortable with. I really liked coach Hevesy the best because he broke down what he wanted me to do. So, that’s really why I committed.”
Another reason for his commitment, is the coaching style Hevesy provides.
“Coach Hevesy is a straight forward guy. He tells who what you need to do. I can’t be around a coach that will sugarcoat you. He’s straight to the point.”
The 6-foot-4, 315-pound offensive lineman becomes the second commit in the 2021 class, joining his high school teammate Kamar Wilcoxson.
