Four-star commit Hill sees momentum on the recruiting trail

The Missouri Tigers (5-4, 1-4) rained on the Florida Gators (6-3, 4-3) Homecoming parade on Saturday afternoon leaving The Swamp victorious 38-17.

One of several top tier prospects In attendance was four-star Florida commit Jaydon Hill‍ (Madison, Ala.) and he discussed the Gators performance.

“I mean we didn’t come out with the victory. We didn’t play good at all actually, but I don’t see this as a game that defines us," explained Hill. "We will bounce back. I mean we still have some more games. We’ve got South Carolina coming up next week. So, that’s a good game to bounce back.”

Florida’s secondary has been depleted the entire season with injuries and a lack of depth. For the consecutive game, it was telling Florida needs help on the back end. Hill talked about seeing an opportunity for early playing time next year.

“Oh yeah, for sure. We’re real thin in the secondary. I feel like I have a great opportunity to come in and play. I actually just got done talking to Coach Mullen about that and he says I need to come in and be ready to play.”

Since committing to the orange and blue, Hill has taken over the “recruiter” role for this class alongside fellow commit Diwun Black. Hill wasn’t shy following the game on who he’s trying to bring on board for this 2019 class.

“One of them I’m on right now is Travon Walker‍. Y’all probably know of him, the Georgia commit. I’m on him. These recruits try to disguise it, but I’ve been trying to get in his skin. We have a good chance for him.”

Hill discussed his sales pitch to Walker.

“I mean, come in and play. Our d-lineman are about to leave and you want to go Georgia and play behind somebody. I’m like, come here. Why not?”

Hill’s recruiting duties don’t stop with Walker. The 6-foot defensive back is targeting five-star @Chris St">Chris Steele‍ (Bellflower, Calif.) and four-star Auburn commit Jaren Handy‍ (Hattiesburg, Miss.). When asked about if there are any prospects on the horizon to commit or flip, Hill gave a positive answer for the Gator nation.

“Oh yeah, I’ll probably text Chris [Steele] right now. I talk to Chris all the time. I really feel like Chris is close (to committing) and I feel like Jaren Handy is close too. It just feels like it. When I’m talking to them, I just feel like we will get them.”

Florida’s been loyal to Hill during his recruitment, despite the Alabama product tearing his ACL. When asked about if Hill would take any more official visits, he mentioned it wasn’t likely.

Hill will be trying to make another trip down to Gainesville this fall, but with his high school team squaring off against Hoover (Ala.) this weekend, it’s unlikely Hill will be in attendance for the South Carolina game.
