Orange & Blue Game Visitor Preview

Apr 14, 2022 | 0 comments

Florida is expecting over 300 prospects in the Swamp for Thursday evening's Orange & Blue Game. Yes, there are quite a few 2023 stars, but there will also be many high-end targets from the 2024 and 2025 cycles as well. Inside the Gators takes a closer look at some of the top visitors.

The Headliner: There isn't one, which could present a problem for Florida going forward because history has shown us most of the truly elite classes are formed when a quarterback jumps on board early on and starts recruiting for that school. The fact is, for now at least, Florida isn't the odd's on favorite to land any of the top signal-callers. We'll see if that changes going forward.

  • Judd Anderson (2024 quarterback with some early offers

The Headliner: It is a big deal for Florida to get Treyaun Webb‍ back on campus so soon after he visited Tennessee. He has his five official visits to take in June, but it wouldn't be the least bit surprising if he pledged to the Gators before school starts in August.

  • Jacob Fowler (Part of the Lake Gibson entourage who has already been on campus)
  • Donovan Johnson (2025 running back picking up offers already)

The Headliner: It is hard to pick one out in such a loaded group, but Tyler Williams‍ is the type of receiver Florida needs on offense. He is tall, but is also legitimately an athlete as well. The Gators need to start making up some ground, and they began doing so with his visit a couple of weeks ago.

  • Jaren Hamilton (He is better than his current ranking would indicate. A big play waiting to happen)
  • DL Hardison (2025 receiver with offers)
  • Koby Howard (2025 receiver out of the Panhandle who has SEC offers)
  • Andy Jean (The one time Miami commit visited UF earlier this spring)
  • Michael Key (2024 wide out who already is receiving offers)
  • Earl Kulp (2024 athlete with offers from the likes of Miami, Michigan, Penn State and others)
  • Aidan Mizell (Four-star Florida legacy, who has already visited once this month)
  • Tyree Patterson (Was recently offered by Florida after a campus visit)
  • Chance Robinson (STA 2024 four-star wide receiver)
  • Creed Whittemore (Local legacy receiver has been picking up new offers left and right)

The Headliner: Tight end, along with quarterback, are currently the two positions where when you look at the board, you have to wonder where the top end kids are going to come from because right now, there simply aren't any elite 2023 kids at the position who are looking at Florida

  • Isaiah Nixon (He could have been listed as a defensive end, but then that would leave this position blank)

The Headliner: After he visited in March he came in as one of my least likely visitors to eventually end up at Florida, and the Gators are still likely nearer the middle of his pack rather than the top, but the more Francis Mauigoa‍ visits, the more UF's odds increase.

  • Nicolas Flynn (PWO candidate who could very likely pull the trigger tonight or sometime soon)
  • Knijeah Harris (Part of the IMG Academy contingent coming over)
  • Rod Kearney (Florida is trying to get more firmly in the picture after the last staff dropped the ball)
  • Tommy Kinsler (He said he 'should' be at the game, but that doesn't sound like a given)
  • Payton Kirkland (This is recruiting. In the span of 14 hours he went from telling me he wasn't visiting to he was visiting)
  • Lucas Simmons (For the second time this spring Florida is getting the in-state lineman with perhaps the highest ceiling on campus)
  • Bryce Lovett (This is at least his fourth visit to Gainesville this spring)
  • Eddy Pierre-Louis (Richard Gouraige's little brother)
  • Gernorris Wilson (Polk County three-star who has visited UF this spring)

The Headliner: No, he isn't the highest-rated, but with the way things stand, transfer defensive tackle Darrell Jackson might be the most important visitor of the day. He arrived on Wednesday and will be at the game this evening. He told Inside the Gators that despite it being a two-day visit, it isn't one of his five allotted official visits.

  • Oryend Fisher (Long defensive end out of Kentucky who has multiple offers and interest from across the SEC)
  • Jordan Hall (The Jacksonville four-star will be making yet another visit to Florida this spring)
  • Kendall Jackson (Local 2024 defensive end)
  • Derrick LeBlanc (Is he in a contest with Bryce Lovett to earn most frequent visitor miles?)
  • Samuel M'Pemba (The five-star athlete has Florida on his list of favorites and has already visited this spring)
  • Will Norman (A couple of months ago Florida looked like the favorite to land him. Maybe this visit will rekindle those feelings)

The Headliner: Though he is still in his freshman season of high school, 2025 linebacker Zayden Walker already has offers from the likes of FSU, UGA and LSU

  • Chason Clark (2024 linebacker who has visited UF a couple of times)
  • Timajay Hayes (Is coming in with a couple of teammates)
  • Nicholas Rodriguez (2024 STA linebacker with offers from Miami, Penn State, and others)

The Headliner: The collective gasp you heard at roughly 9:12 a.m. Wednesday morning was the reaction from the Gator Nation when five-star cornerback Cormani McClain‍ not only tweeted out that he would be attending Florida's Spring Game, but called UF 'home' in the process.

  • Sharif Denson (Four-star out of Jacksonville who grew up a fan of the Gators)
  • Fred Gaskin (Three-star who held an offer from the previous staff and has visited UF this spring)
  • Jordan Johnson-Rubell (Four-star 2024 cornerback with big early offers)
  • Kenton Kirkland (He camped with Florida last summer, nephew of former UF linebacker)
  • Jamar Taylor (2024 WR/DB who visited Florida back in March)
  • Cameron Upshaw (Florida wasn't on his recently released top 14)
  • Brayson Williams (Florida offered when he visited in March)
