Four-star Freeling has two-day visit set with Florida

On March 1st Florida became the latest program to offer Mount Pleasant (S.C.) Oceanside Collegiate Academy four-star offensive tackle Monroe Freeling‍ and now the 6-foot-7, 285-pound lineman has a two-day unofficial visit scheduled with the Gators.

“Coach [Rob] Sale hit me up and then we just started talking,” explained Freeling. “He offered me, and then I got on the phone with Coach [Darnell] Stapleton. Since then, they have had conversations with my parents and we are planning a visit to Florida March 18-19.”

Although he is quickly approaching 30 offers, Freeling said that the one from the Gators still stands out to him.

“Florida is a highly ranked school in both academics and athletics which is something I’m looking for in a program.”

Looking at it from the outside, if you expected in-state Clemson to be his final destination, you wouldn't be alone.

However, despite their success on the field and along the recruiting trail, Freeling said he isn't locked in on the Tigers.

“Clemson is a great program for sure,” stated Freeling. “I moved to South Carolina from Oregon in 6th grade where I had always been a Duck fan. So, I guess that makes me more open to exploring many programs and seeing what feels best for me.”

Not only will Freeling and his family visit Florida next weekend, but he also has visits planned to Miami (3/25-26) later this month. He will then visit Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Stanford in April before going to Ohio State, Penn State, and Virginia in May.

After the visits, he will be ready to formulate a leaderboard.

“At that point, I will narrow down my list,” explained Freeling. “I am looking for a program that values academics, has a great football culture, and experienced coaches who will continue to help develop me as a player.”

Freeling is the No. 59 ranked prospect in the nation according to the On3 Consensus.
