Once a Louisiana commit under Billy Napier, three-star tight end Hayden Hansen‍ has now become a commit to Florida with a familiar face at the helm.

While taking his official visit to Florida this weekend, Hansen said Napier gave him an offer on the 50-yard line of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

“I came here a little anxious,” Hansen said, “I didn't know if I was wasting a visit or not. But I knew in the back of my mind, he believed in me.”

Hansen said it felt good to be offered by the same head coach twice and said he was ready to make his choice known right then and there or soon afterward.

However, his mother stepped in and requested the information be held long enough to allow her son to contact the other schools recruiting him out of respect.

That clearly didn’t take too long.

Less than two hours later the Weatherford, Texas, native committed to the Gators.

Hansen said his time with current Florida tight end Nick Elksnis shed light on how much Napier has already done for the football program.

“The culture, the big thing was culture and how Napier already, just got here and now he's fixed the parking arrangements and the living arrangements,” he said, “So, he said, it's on the uphill.”

The now Florida tight end commit had the opportunity to meet Tight End Coach William Peagler and “match a voice to the face.”

“We're pretty like-minded in general,” he said, “And I could see us meshing well.”

Hansen has a visit scheduled with Washington State next weekend but said “We’ll see if I make it. I might just stay here [at Florida].”

Hansen is the No. 1,729 ranked prospect in the nation according to the 247 Sports Composite.
