Inside the Gators asked Florida commitments and targets for their thoughts on the Gators 40-17 loss to South Carolina. Find out what Nick Evers, CJ Smith, Jamari Lyons, Emory Floyd, and others thought of the game.
- Three-star offensive line commit David Conner
"We have to be better. I’m not rethinking any decision, when I say I'm 100% committed, that's what I meant. We are just going to have to get in there and get better. Nothing has changed."
Note: This was before the news of John Hevesy being terminated was made public. His comments afterward can be found on the WCC
- Four-star defensive line commit Jamari Lyons
"Even though the team’s not having a great season they have to still finish hard. Once my class gets there, things are going to change next season. Them losing to South Carolina doesn't change much, because I believe we’re in the process of being great in a year or two."
- 2023 offensive line target Jordan Church
"Every team has off years and off games, but I think the Gators will bounce back and finish the season strong and that will carry on into next year."
- Three-star defensive back target Christian Harrison
"The loss was disappointing and they have to do better. The season is up and down, but I think they will pick it up before it’s too late."
- Three-star South Carolina commit and Florida target Emory Floyd
"It was a fun game to watch last night. It was the second game I've been to this year and I don’t care about the records, I just care about the team and how it fits me, and with me being committed to South Carolina nothing changed there. Both are two good teams with great coaches."
- Four-star wide out commit CJ Smith
"It was not a good game at all. I saw a lot of simple mistakes that can definitely be fixed. But I myself want to be a part of this great program and bring some speed to the UF offense."
- Four-star quarterback commit Nick Evers
"We've got to do better. We all know that! But I know we will because we must! Basically, my message [to other prospects] is we all go through adversity at some point — we have an opportunity to make an impact. Personally, I like the idea of leaving our mark in a positive way."
- 2024 four-star offensive line target Kam Pringle
"It was definitely a shocker considering the Gamecocks only had one SEC win prior to the game against the Gators. I also feel the Gators didn’t play the game they could have, especially on offense. I think the game basically sums up the season, a lot of shocking gameplay that's unlike the Gators."
