Top 100 target has four visits in mind

After taking three official visits back during the summer, Owasso (Okl.) four-star defensive lineman @Chris McCl">Chris McClellan‍ has picked out the two programs getting his final two official visits as well as plans for two unofficial visits in the near future.

Back in early August McClellan narrowed his list to a final six of Alabama, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Southern Cal.

When asked Wednesday evening if there were one or two programs guaranteed to be there until the end, the 6-foot-4, 292-pounder said that there are four programs that stand out to him.

“Since I dropped my top six back in the summer,” said McClellan. “Those are still the same six. There's no new teams or leader, but some teams are higher up like Florida and Ohio State and Alabama and OU.”

McClellan, who took three official visits over the summer to Florida, Ohio State, and Southern Cal. told Inside the Gators that Alabama and Oklahoma will receive his final two allotted OVs.

“I was talking to Coach [Jay] Valai at Alabama today, and we're working on getting that visit date squared away,” said McClellan. “It's the same deal with OU, we haven't set the date yet, we just have to get it set up.”

Before then, he'll be on the road the next two weekends taking unofficial visits to see the Sooners and Gators.

“I might be in Norman [to watch Oklahoma and Western Carolina] this weekend,” said McClellan. “On the [September] 18th I'll definitely be in Gainesville watching that Florida-Alabama game.”

Throughout the spring McClellan wasn't shy about the fact that Florida sat in a good place for him. Then, after his summer official visits, the Gators seemed to fade a bit as Ohio State moved to the forefront.

When presented with that scenario, McCellan didn't deny it.

“Being on a visit is as close as you are going to get to experiencing what the next four years of your life are going to be like. They really do make a big difference. The in-person interactions with the coaches tell me more about what they are like compared to a Facetime conference or a text message. That weekend I had a strong vibe with [Buckeye] Coach [Larry] Johnson.”

However, over the last few weeks, Florida has started to gain some momentum.

Part of the reason being that they have picked up the pace along the recruiting trail.

“As far as recruiting me the hardest, lately I can say it's probably between OU and Florida,” said McClellan.

He went on to go a little more in-depth about Florida's message to him.

“They like to drill it in my head how much of an impact they think I can make from the day I step on campus,” explained McClellan. “I watched them on Saturday and I was impressed with Zach Carter. He had, what, two or three sacks? That's exactly who they want me to come in and fill in for. They say our playing styles are very similar so that was very cool to see that.”

McClellan is the No. 96 rated prospect in the nation according to the 247 Sports Composite.

The Inside Scoop: He didn’t say so, but I get the feeling that Alabama and Ohio State might have some prospects ahead of him that they like more – at least for now.  Florida getting him back on campus for an unofficial is good news for the Gators – since it could come down to a Cotton Bowl rematch between the OU and UF.
