In the parking lot, while leaving Florida's Summer Kickoff recruiting event, Tampa (Fla.) Berkley Prep three-star tight end commit CJ Hawkins‍ informed Inside the Gators of his intent to take an official visit to Stanford later in the month of June.

“I took the visit in June,” Hawkins said of his visit out west. “It was cool and a lot different of an environment. The trip left a good impression on me.”

With an official visit to Florida planned for the fall, and the Stanford official visit already in the books, the 6-foot-7, 220-pounder said he doesn't know what the future holds as far as his other three allotted visits.

He said that other than Stanford, many of the coaches who were recruiting him have backed away for the most part.

“I haven’t been hearing from too many other programs,” said Hawkins. “I'm not sure about any other visits in the future.”

What he does know is that he will be back on campus at the University of Florida this weekend.

“I’ll be at UF on Friday,” said Hawkins. “I’m really just looking to enjoy myself In the Swamp and have a good workout.”

While there he will likely be on the receiving end of some passes from Florida quarterback commit Nick Evers‍ – who he has been in communication with this summer.

“I talk to Nick Evers from time to time,” said Hawkins. “We talk a lot about what’s next to come for Florida football.”

Besides Evers, he has also been in contact with the Florida coaching staff.

“Communication with the coaches has been good, pretty consistent. I talk to Coach Brew [Tim Brewster] a lot as well as Coach [Dan] Mullen and Coach [Christian] Robinson.”

Hawkins is the No. 716 rated prospect in the nation according to the 247 Sports Composite.
