It isn't often that a prospect designed to primarily play long-snapper is offered a scholarship out of high school. Normally, that position is filled by a player who starts out as a walk-on and then goes on to earn a scholarship. Therefore, when Lake Mary (Fla.) long-snapper Rocco Underwood‍  received offers from both Alabama and Florida, you knew he had to be something special.

Inside the Gators spoke to the Central Florida native about his recruiting process and got to know him better as a person in this edition of Getting to Know.

Take us through the process that led to your commitment. What was that experience like for you?
”So, I have been a Florida Gator fan since my cousins (former UF punters Johnny and Tommy Townsend) went to Florida and even before that, like since I was born. I’ve always been a Gators fan. It’s always been a dream school for me. My sister goes there, and it’s about two hours from home. They have great football, great academics. It was just the perfect fit for me.”

Which school came in second for you? Why?
”Alabama for sure. They were my first offer and I love that school too. I went up on a junior day and that was the only other school I went to a junior day, besides Florida. They were definitely my second choice.”

What would you say are some of your greatest strengths as a football player?
“Definitely being a leader and leading my team, playing hard, I got the heart. I leave it all out on the field and don’t bring anything back into the locker room.”

Who is the prospect that you have talked to the most from the Class of 2021?
”I’ve talked to my cousins when they were there at Florida. They were big influences. I talked to Evan McPherson too, mostly special teams. Someone I talk to a lot on the roster now is Jeremy Crawshaw.”

What would be your first purchase if you got drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft?
”Probably a car. Like a truck, any type of truck. I’m a big truck guy. Maybe a [Ford] Raptor.”

What is one item that you cannot live without it? Why?
”Probably my phone is the most useful. I can communicate with people and play games.”

Who has been the biggest role model for you in your life? Why?
”Probably my cousins. They both made it, and I want to be just like them.”

What are your favorite types of music? Do you have a favorite artist or song?
”I listen to a lot of music. I don’t really have a favorite artist. I listen to rap, country, rock, pop. Whatever I’m in the mood for.”

What is your favorite movie?
”Probably Remember the Titans.”

If you could meet one person in the world, who would that be?
”Probably Tom Brady (the GOAT), probably a tight end like George Kittle or Travis Kelce. There’s also a long snapper named Luke Rhodes who’s pretty good. He was on the Colts at some point.”

If you a chance to go on a dream date, who would it be with?
”Well I have a girlfriend right now so definitely my girlfriend.”

Where do you see yourself five years from now?
”In the NFL, hopefully.”

What are three things on your bucket list?
”I want to go skydiving.”
”I want to go on a deep-sea fishing charter.”

What is one thing about you that the Gator Nation would be surprised to find out about you?
”I’m the first-ever six-star long snapper. So, on the Rubio long-snapping scale, it goes from one to six stars. The sixth star is a scholarship offer or first-year starter at a power five.”
