Getting to Know: Defensive Line Signee Justus Boone

Jan 4, 2021 | 0 comments

Justus Boone‍ is not only athletic, a big body, and a big hitter; he fills a position of need at Florida, which has Gators fans excited about his arrival to campus. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound strongside defensive end is just what the doctor ordered for the 2021 class. The fact that Boone is the second-highest-rated player in talent-rich South Carolina certainly vouches for the type of player he could develop into, and he will start that journey when he enrolls early this week.

The four-star is not the most verbose, but he is quite an interesting person who plans to take on a leadership role in the locker room as soon as he gets to Gainesville. That and more in this edition of Getting to Know.

PERSONAL

What would be your first purchase if you got drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft?
“I’m going to get whatever my mom wants.”

Who has been the biggest role model for you in your life?
”I would probably have to say Inky Johnson. He’s a player who got injured at Tennessee. I can’t necessarily pin it down to one person. He just got me through a lot of stages. I listen to him because he pushes me.

Aside: Johnson was a Vols cornerback from 2005-2006, whose football career ended prematurely due to an injury that left his right arm permanently paralyzed. Nowadays, he is a motivational speaker.

What are your favorite types of music? Do you have a favorite artist or song?
”My favorite music is rap, and my favorite artist would have to be Rylo Rodriguez.”

If you could meet one person in the world, who would that be?
”I would meet myself.”

If you a chance to go on a dream date, who would it be with?
”Probably Jada Pinkett or Rihanna. Someone like that.”

Where do you see yourself five years from now?
”Playing in the NFL.”

What are three things on your bucket list?
”I want to go skydiving.”
”Climb mountains.”
“Another thing is to go bungee jumping.”

What is one thing about you that the Gator Nation would be surprised to find out about?
”I like to read. I read everything.”

”I didn’t really have a second school. I had UF and a bunch of other schools I was looking at.”
