Winter Park (Fla.) four-star cornerback Ethan Pouncey’s whirlwind commitment that initially saw him committing to Texas to play with his brother Jordan that ended with the brothers both taking their talents to Gainesville was a fun moment for Gator fans.
Now, the cornerback is ready to work. In this edition of Getting to Know he gives Inside the Gators an exclusive look at Pouncey’s road to Gainesville, plus what he does off the field.
Who’s your favorite music artist?
“My favorite artist is DaBaby or Roddy Rich.”
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
“Five years from now I hope to be in the NFL.”
What are three things on your bucket list?
“Three things on my bucket list are skydiving, scuba diving and hiking one of the famous mountains.”
What’s one thing Gator Nation would be surprised to know about you?
“Gator Nation would be very surprised to know that I am not just an athlete. I take school very seriously, and I’ve done well in school since I first started.”

Take us through the process that led to your commitment. What was that experience like for you?
“My process was crazy. I loved it, but it has its ups and downs. It all happened so fast but ended so quickly, and I wish I would’ve enjoyed it a little more while I had it.”
Which school came in second for you and why?
“Alabama was my second option because I was always a fan of them because of their defensive success, which I take pride in, and Nick Saban is one of the greats.”
Which #GatorGangXX member are you closest with?
”I don’t have a closest #GatorGangXX member. I know most of them but not very close.”
Give a funny story about either your position coach, area recruiter or Coach Mullen.
“Dan Mullen wears the flyest kicks I’ve ever seen.”
