San Diego (Calif.) Mesa College three-star defensive end Alex Lemon‍ will be in Gainesville this weekend for the first official visit of his recruiting process.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound edge rusher, who recently decommitted from Arizona State, spoke with Inside the Gators about his upcoming visit.

“I just want to see the campus and facilities,” Lemon said. “I’m looking forward to seeing the school, see what the players are doing. Overall, see how comfortable I am with the university.”

The former Sun Devil commit mentioned he’s already formed a good relationship with head coach Dan Mullen.

“He’s [Mullen] very enthusiastic about me coming,” Lemon said.

Located 3,000 miles away from home, Lemon is hoping to find that “home” feeling while in town. Lemon mentioned the proximity to home plays no factor in his recruitment.

“Honestly, I just want to go somewhere where I feel comfortable.”

Lemon is listed as the No. 2 overall defensive lineman in the junior college ranks and the No. 17 prospect overall in the 247 JUCO Composite . With his large frame and speed, he possesses the perfect build for an SEC-caliber defense.

However, there is one area he’s continuing to improve on while at San Diego Mesa College.

“The college game at the division one level is much faster than the lower division levels,” Lemon said. “I’m working on my conditioning, building up my strength and speed and just getting better.”

Despite Lemon recently opening his recruitment, the defensive end doesn’t have a top list of schools at the moment, though he is looking mostly at programs on the west coast.

He will be visiting Oregon State next weekend and will continue to taking visits until he makes his final decision.
