Highly-coveted Miami (Fla.) Norland Senior High prospect Issiah Walker’s visit to Florida once again this past weekend had dual purposes.
He wanted to improve his game while also getting to spend more time around the Gators coaching staff.
The 6-foot-4, 302-pound South Carolina commit started making a name for himself when he dominated at a Florida camp last summer and now has visited the Gators several times during the 2019 calendar year
This go around, he knew what he wanted out of this visit.
“I just wanted to be around the coaches,” Walker told InsideTheGators. “Also, get some techniques from coach [John] Hevesy so I can use those during the season.”
Walker’s been on Florida’s campus a handful of times during his recruiting process, but the message remains the same.
“They just really want me to be a Florida Gator,” Walker said. “That’s what they were saying all weekend.”
After a big haul at the position in the last cycle, signing a handful of quality offensive linemen is more inportant than adding shear numbers this time around.
Walker’s strength and size to complemented by his footwork on the line, would provide a huge boost to this class and he mentioned the availability to play is playing a “very big role” in his decision.
Despite a ton of offensive lineman on the Gators helping with the camps this weekend, Walker didn’t speak with them much and informed ITG that former Norland and Florida linebacker Vosean Joseph has been in his ear the most during his commitment.
Walker mentioned the Gators made progress on him this weekend and rated his visit a 10 out of 10.
After visiting South Carolina, Florida and Miami over the last two weeks, Walker mentioned he will be taking his official visit to Florida sometime this fall.
Walker is the No. 149 rated prospect in the nation according to the 247 Composite.
