Height hopes to build a better bond with Florida coaches

In the end Florida’s 2020 linebacker class may not end up the same caliber as its outstanding 2019 class class, but it is one position where most of the Gators’ top targets are still on the board and very much have the Orange and Blue in the mix.

One such prospect being three-star Dublin (Ga.) outside linebacker Romello Height‍, who still has the Gators among his favorites.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder spoke highly of his relationship with Gators linebacker coach Christian Robinson, who recently traveled to the Peach State (along with Todd Grantham) to watch the junior practice.

“We couldn’t really talk because of the rules,” Height admitted. “But we can talk more when I get there this week. We’ll really get a chance to kick it. He thinks I should be a Gator… that I belong there.”

This week, of course, being the annual Great Gator Grill Out.

Although Florida has plenty of Georgia natives on the roster, Height does not know any of them – neither current nor committed. He is really hoping to change that this weekend over ribs – his food of choice – at the Grill Out.

“I want to get to meet other recruits and really get around the coaching staff and get to know them more.”

Height last visited Florida for the Orange and Blue Game last month telling ITG at the time that he could not wait to return.

Communication, Height revealed, is what could push Florida over the edge with him.

100% of Crystal Balls have Height, who is the No. 482 rated prospect in the nation according to the 247 Composite, heading to Geoff Collins’ newfound recruiting prowess at Georgia Tech. And while he did admit that those predictions may not be too far off the mark, this weekend could put the Gators in the driver’s seat.

“It’s the relationships I have with the coaches at Georgia Tech really. I know all the coaches there really well and at Florida I only know a few. This weekend, I want to get to meet everyone – Coach [Dan] Mullen, get to know Grantham better, you know. If I get to the point where I’m as close with coaches at Florida as I am with [the coaches at Georgia Tech], I might like them the most.”
