Four-star on Florida – 'I just like it'

Many in the Gator Nation were optimistic that a commitment was on the way when Miami (Fla.) Christian School four-star wide receiver Marc Britt‍ decommitted from Miami the day after he visited Florida earlier this year.

That optimism turned somewhat sour when it became evident that a pledge wasn’t imminent.

However, Britt did include Florida in his top six, but dragged his feet as far as a return trip to campus. He even told Inside the Gators he would not be attending the Spring game before having a change of heart the day before the game.

There is no reason for shaky nerves now as the 2020 prospect left Ben Hill Griffin Stadium high on Florida and the Gators have set themselves up as a serious contender

“Florida will definitely get an official visit,” Britt said. “I was talking to [Dan] Mullen and he said he will let me know and then I’m coming”

Britt’s fast action with scheduling an official comes down to a few things he saw on Saturday.

“It was great, I like it,” Britt said of his visit. “I like the environment, the fans, the campus, I just like it.”

Although the Gators’ 95-point outing against themselves showed Britt a glimpse of UF’s electrifying offense, he was hardly focused on the field.

“To be honest with you, I love the fans. They really get hype,” he said. “[The stadium] wasn’t empty but it wasn’t packed or anything… but it still gets crazy. I love that.”

The former Miami commit says while the Canes are still in his top six and as he puts it, “still showing love,” – however, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound junior says the communication coming out of Gainesville is on another level.

“Florida is showing a lot of love. Every day I get home I get calls, texts, everything. They love me over there,” he laughed.

Communication is key for Britt because, as he told ITG, “it’s just something I never really had before.”

Despite hosting nearly 100 visitors on campus for the Orange & Blue Game, the Miami native was one of the chosen few who had a chance to talk with both Dan Mullen and Billy Gonzales.

“Coach Mullen, he hopes I’ll be there next season. He told me he likes the way I play with the ball,” Britt revealed. “Coach Gonzales, he basically said the same thing, just to keep working hard. Keep grinding and stay focused on class.”

Britt said that he plans to sign in December and will choose between Florida, Miami, Alabama, LSU, Penn State, and Pitt.
