Kyle Lofton said the team lacked energy and intensity in the first half. Added that coming out of the halftime locker room, that was their focus — to change that.

Golden says that finishing the season over .500 matters. Adds that it says a lot about this group’s resiliency, being able to go on the road and beat UGA by double digits and then come back here to bounce back the way they did in the second half tonight.

Says that Lane and Reeves brought the energy the team needed when it came to the full-court press.

Also mention’s how big Aberdeen was for them tonight with energy and giving Lofton rest to re-gather himself.

Says that he decided to start rolling with Fudge at the 5 going into the Georgia game so that they could switch everything defensively. Adds that because they have so many great guards and wings, Fudge being able to play the center role opens up the rotation for everyone.

Says that usually a player’s biggest jump comes in between his freshman and sophomore seasons, but that because of his talent and the way things have shaken up with the team this season, Kugel is making that jump right now.

Says LSU played harder than them early in this game, that they were fatigued — whether it be physical or emotional — and that he was not okay with that. Says he challenged the guys at halftime to come out and play harder than the opposition.

On Mississippi State, their opponent next week in the first round of the SEC tournament, Golden says they’re a tough, physical team and that the Gators may be playing with some “house money.”
