GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida’s Colin Castleton has been named USA Today’s Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-SEC, while the Associated Press named him second-team All-SEC.

The honors add to Castleton’s postseason haul following his first-team All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive Team recognition from the coaches on Monday.

Castleton led the Gators in scoring (16.0) and rebounding (7.7) while his 3.0 blocked shots per game rank fourth in the nation and are a Florida single-season record. Castleton has been sidelined with a broken hand since Feb. 15.

The Gators open SEC Tournament action on Thursday at 1 p.m. EST vs. Mississippi State in Nashville.
