Injuries:

OL Ethan White was in a black non-contact jersey.

WR Ricky Pearsall and LB Amari Burney were not at practice. I didn’t see CB Jason Marshall either. All three were in black jerseys yesterday.

Practice:

Today I focused a lot more on the ILB and OLB with some more running backs.

ILB did a lot of tackling on the padded wheel. Ventrell Miller had the rep of the day by hitting it so hard he nearly rolled into LB Coach Jay Bateman who was standing in front of him.

Shemar James had good reps as well. Diwun Black had to redo a couple of drills (first time was his fault, footwork. Second was Bateman’s, which he apologized).

OLB worked on punching the bags and getting off the hall quickly. You could tell the vets apart from the newcomers. Brenton Cox Jr., David Reese and Lloyd Summerall III were the fastest with Antwaun Powell-Ryland and Chief Borders not too far behind.

FR Jack Pyburn has nice balance, but is not as fast as the vets, which will start to go away as he gains more experience.

Running backs did more footwork over the short pads, working on stepping high. From what I saw, Nay’Quan Wright has the most consistent foot work. All of the backs have nice feet, but he’s most consistent. All four of the main backs (Wright, Johnson, Lingard and Etienne) had nice reps.

Tomorrow: The Gators will be holding their first scrimmage of fall camp with an open portion of warm ups and individuals set to begin at approximately 3 p.m.
