Todd Golden and the Gators mens’ basketball team will be holding an hour long open practice session from 3-4. Follow along for live coverage and observations.

Most of the players have made their way on the court. Will Richard, CJ Felder and Kowacie Reeves were the first on the court.
Todd Golden just made his way out. Have yet to see Colin Castleton

To start, the team is working on full-court and half-court ball handling with every player participating

The clear thing I’ve seen so far is 100% energy 100% of the time from both the players and staff. Todd Golden participated in guarding players during the dribbling drill. Constant clapping and coaching throughout all drills so far, and the players are listening

Have yet to see Colin Castleton. However, Jason Jitoboh is back on the court wearing goggles after missing the end of the 2021-2022 season due to an eye injury

Not anything super crazy so far. A lot of basic drills and focus on mechanics. However, a lot about the energy and staying focused. The only time I’ve seen the players not be focused was during the water break that just happened

Todd Golden has been the most vocal so far. One-on-one coaching, pausing drills to get things right and even participating in some of the drills

Keyontae Johnson is also in attendance, but from a chair on the second floor. Johnson has not been cleared to play by UF and is currently in the transfer portal

3-pointers are struggling to fall so far. I’ve only seen Alex Klatsky make one so far during a screen, cut and shoot drill

Catch and shoot drill now for both groups, and the three’s are staring to fall. Alex Fudge, Kowacie Reaves, Will Richard and Niels Lane stand out the most early on

The open portion of practice has concluded. Some of my early standouts:
Kowacie Reaves can easily be a star in this offense. The most consistent shooter with a strong drive and finish
Alex Fudge is extremely focused throughout, but he is really reminding me of Devin Robinson with his drive and strong dunks.
Really like what I’m seeing from Will Richard. Commands the court and high energy. Does need to become a more consistent shooter, but he looks good early
No Colin Castleton appearance today, so Jason Jitoboh got pretty much all of the big-man reps.

Myreon Jones looked pretty good, too. Did not shoot nearly as many three’s as some of the other guys. Looks like he’s trying to complete is overall game rather than rely on deep shots.
