No. 18 Florida takes on South Florida Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the Swamp for a game being shown on the SEC Network.
Later this afternoon Rafael de la Santos, Steven Hieneman, Cam Parker, Zack Weiss, and Chris Will will be reporting live from the stadium.
Stay tuned all afternoon and night for the latest.

Just a pregame assessment: USF’s sideline looks like the Swamp killed their energy a bit. Very flat-footed.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:39 pm #21264
Florida defers. On one hand, I would like to see what the offense can do. On the other, if the defense can pitch a three and out, field position could be theirs for the taking.

The fourth play of the game and UF already is rotating in defensive linemen with Sapp and Powell in there.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:44 pm #21267
Umanmelien was sealed off way too easily there.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:44 pm #21268
Trey Dean III with the forced fumble. UF’s first fumble recovery of the season.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:44 pm #21269
The true freshman with a huge play with the recovery.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:45 pm #21270
Correction: Antwaun Powell-Ryland with the FF
- September 17, 2022 at 7:45 pm #21271
Huge hole on the left side there for Wright.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:46 pm #21272
Austin Barber making his first start, and he looks good through two plays. Nice push towards the outside to let Wright cut underneath. Keep an eye on 58 tonight
- September 17, 2022 at 7:47 pm #21273
Despite his slow start to the season, Napier has decided to stick with Nay’Quan Wright as the lead back tonight. Some may have expected Johnson or Etienne to appear here. It’ll be interesting to see how long BN keeps him out there and how that rotation looks tonight.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:47 pm #21274
It looked like Richardson had more room to run there.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:47 pm #21275
Dante Zanders was wide open. Throughout fall camp, I’ve seen the QBs and TEs practice that route countless of times, and it works out. I believe that’s the longest catch by a TE this season for the Gators.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:48 pm #21276
Zipperer was so open on that play that you would think that a Florida linebacker was covering him.
Huge first down.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:48 pm #21277
Good to see Keon Zipperer getting more involved in the offense, he seems to be getting more separation this week.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:49 pm #21278
Xzavier Henderson is “hyping up” Wright after every carry. These two seem to have chemistry.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:49 pm #21279
Beautiful pass protection by the right side of the line: Eguakun, Torrence and Barber. Picked up the twist rush perfectly. Good coverage by USF and Ethan White not being able to hold his block leads to Mihalek kicking a FG
- September 17, 2022 at 7:50 pm #21280
Florida moves 45-yards for the field goal and a 3-0 lead.
You have to like how Barber looked on that opening drive in place of Tarquin.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:51 pm #21281
Mihalek spoke to the media on Wednesday night and was asked if he feels any pressure by kicking in front of 90K people. He said he doesn’t feel any pressure and treats every kick the same.
He is now 3-3 on the season with FGs and 3-3 on XP.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:52 pm #21282
And of course, we had to see the screen to Henderson. Can’t let Florida’s favorite play call go unnoticed for a three-yard loss.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:53 pm #21283
Scooby Williams back in at LB for Shemar James
- September 17, 2022 at 7:53 pm #21284
Trey Dean missed a tackle on that kickoff pretty badly that would’ve put USF at the 10. Instead, they’ll start their first drive at the 20.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:53 pm #21285
Jordan Young is lucky he didn’t catch a flag there coming in late.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:54 pm #21286
Speed sweep caught Umanmielen off guard. Florida didn’t look completely set. Keep an eye out on how fast the D gets set and communicates with Miller out.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:54 pm #21287
Johnson isn’t able to make the play in space, so it’s a five yard gain.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:54 pm #21288
Then Johnson comes back and gives up the completion.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:55 pm #21289
Coverage-forced incompletion. Everyone in their spot, but the DL struggling to get pressure
- September 17, 2022 at 7:55 pm #21290
Damn, Gervon Dexter was tripled teamed on that play.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:56 pm #21291
A big thing I’ve noticed the last couple of weeks is although Dean III is listed as a safety, Florida plays a lot of single high with him down. Torrence moves down as well some times based on strong side, but it’s been mostly Dean.
Although he does struggle to tackle, you can see he loves being up there and making contact.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:57 pm #21292
Florida puts rush LB Antwaun Powell-Ryland at a natural LB spot, and it shows that he’s not comfortable there as he whiffs the tackle.
Weird thing was Burney was up on the line.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:58 pm #21293
A 3rd & 18 conversion on the ground.
- September 17, 2022 at 7:58 pm #21294
A rare DL Jaelin Humphries appearance being made right now
- September 17, 2022 at 7:59 pm #21295
Humphries, who has been invisible as a Gator for two years, is in there here in the first quarter.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:00 pm #21296
Scooby Williams’ inexperience vs. Bohanon’s experience showed with that siff-arm. Once again, it looked like UF had trouble getting lined up at LB
- September 17, 2022 at 8:01 pm #21297
Umanmielen coming in for Boone. Jalen Lee in as well
- September 17, 2022 at 8:01 pm #21298
That was all Jason Marshall on an island by himself because there was no pressure at all from the defensive line. That might as well have been a 7-v-7 throw.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:02 pm #21299
Pretty pathetic defensive showing on that delayed handoff, Rashad Torrence the only player between him and the goal line.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:02 pm #21300
Florida is having massive LB issues early on. Miller’s presence being missed.
Little dump-off passes in front of them, failure to fill gaps and missed tackles hurting them
- September 17, 2022 at 8:03 pm #21301
The Ventrell Miller factor: with 51 out, defense gets abused in the run-game
- September 17, 2022 at 8:05 pm #21302
After last week’s performance, you had to feel like the defense was on the right track, but USF is already over 130-yards of offense here in the first quarter as the Bulls go up 7-3.
The only constant from Florida through 2 1/4 games is that they are wildly inconsistent in all three phases of the game.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:05 pm #21303
How did we end with so many soft children starting on our defense? If they can’t man up we better start finding some players that can.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:05 pm #21304
12-play, 81-yd drive. USF had runs of 21, 23, 12 and 10 with the final three coming on back-to-back-to-back plays.
As simple as a veteran playmaker out and Florida having depth concerns on the DL, take advantage with power runs.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:06 pm #21305
Gators LBs Amari Burney and (even more so) Scooby Williams were awful on USF's TD drive. Would expect Shemar James to return on the next drive
— Mark Long (@APMarkLong) September 18, 2022
- September 17, 2022 at 8:08 pm #21306
Florida in an offensive huddle right now, but Billy Napier made sure to talk to Richardson one-on-one a few yards away. Getting his QB ready
- September 17, 2022 at 8:08 pm #21307
All we hear from guys on this defense is how valuable Ventrell Miller is as the vocal leader. Gervon Dexter said last week that he’s “a quarterback on defense” and that losing him is “like losing your heart as a defense.”
Well, that proved to be true on the Gators first defensive drive. Someone needs to step up and into that Ventrell role because it’s painfully obvious that communication is lacking right now. USF ran all over them. - September 17, 2022 at 8:10 pm #21308
USF is 100% on 3rd down at 3/3. They lead 7-3 with 1:00 left in the first.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:10 pm #21309
Beautiful edge seal by Pearsall. Solid blocking by WRs this year has been rare, but Austin Barber makes his first crucial mistake.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:11 pm #21310
Barber with an unforced error costing Florida 15 yards.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:11 pm #21311
Confidence-building throw. Looked like Richardson hesitated a bit, but good velocity got the pass in
- September 17, 2022 at 8:12 pm #21312
Richard Gouraige must love breakfast because his pancake block got Montrell Johnson that first down. An offsides penalty on USF gives the Gators a first down
- September 17, 2022 at 8:12 pm #21313
USF lined up offside.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:13 pm #21314
End of 1. USF 7, UF 3
Already 103 rushing yards for the Bulls on 11 carries despite a fumble on the first drive. Richardson efficient going 4-4 for 36 yards.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:13 pm #21315
Underwhelming first quarter for the Gators. The defense looks very weak early, allowing a high Yards Per Carry on the ground.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:14 pm #21316
Napier clearly has a long way to go to get this team where it needs to be.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:16 pm #21317
Not the start UF was hoping for.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:17 pm #21318
First person to Montrell Johnson after that TD run was Justin Shorter.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:18 pm #21319
Montrell *breath* Johnson. My oh my what a run.
Pearsall again with a helluva block on the edge.
Give credit to Ethan White for a great block to the outside and Richard Gouraige for getting a block down field.
5=1
- September 17, 2022 at 8:18 pm #21320
The first really ‘explosive’ play for the Gators and in one play Johnson has put Florida out in front 10-7.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:19 pm #21321
It was a 62 yard TD run from Johnson, the longest for Florida since Richardson’s 80 yarder against these same Bulls last year.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:20 pm #21322
Florida's last two longest rushing TDs:
62-yards by Montrell Johnson tonight vs. USF
80-yards by Anthony Richardson last season vs. USF@InsideTheGators— Cam Parker (@camparker25) September 18, 2022
- September 17, 2022 at 8:20 pm #21323
LBs struggling so hard Trey Dean is having to rush up to make tackles.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:21 pm #21324
It’ll be interesting to see if Napier keeps MJ in for their next drive or if he continues the rotation and gets Etienne or Lingard in there.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:21 pm #21325
Freshman Lyons in there for this drive. McClellan has already been in there.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:21 pm #21326
Heavy weight Watson coming in for fourth down
- September 17, 2022 at 8:22 pm #21327
USF takes a TO. Swamp may not be as packed or as loud as the previous two games, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a factor tonight
- September 17, 2022 at 8:22 pm #21328
Florida should have let that run and made USF burn a TO.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:23 pm #21329
Napier just called Trey Dean over to him during the time out and gave him a hug. He sees the effort Dean’s been displaying so far tonight to try and keep a struggling defense afloat without a few key guys.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:24 pm #21330
USF takes a TO. Swamp may not be as packed or as loud as the previous two games, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a factor tonight
- September 17, 2022 at 8:25 pm #21331
Great playcall, Gators looked foolish on that one, completely baited Powell-Ryland and Burney. 51-yard run
- September 17, 2022 at 8:26 pm #21332
Burney saved a TD, but how was there no containment on that edge at all?
- September 17, 2022 at 8:26 pm #21333
Haven’t seen a single player on the Gators’ front stay home on a zone read or play action. Lack of discipline.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:26 pm #21334
Horrid defense. Horrid. Poorly coached. Weak. This is sad.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:28 pm #21335
Florida has given up 168 yards on the ground through nearly 20-minutes of play
Only gave up 70 rushing yards to Kentucky last week, but echos of the 230 they gave up to Utah in Week 1@InsideTheGators
— Cam Parker (@camparker25) September 18, 2022
- September 17, 2022 at 8:29 pm #21336
That was way too uncatchable for there to be a flag.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:29 pm #21337
Scoring drive for USF: 9 plays, 75 yards, 4:04
- September 17, 2022 at 8:30 pm #21338
And we are all tied up at 10 each.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:30 pm #21339
However, give credit to Florida’s pass defense. They have shown up tonight. Kimber and Marshall Jr. with PBUs in the endzone.
Bohanon only has 35 passing yards (5-11). It’s clear where the issues are.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:31 pm #21340
South Florida is averaging over 11 yards per carry and will easily hit 200 yards on the ground by the half at this pace.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:32 pm #21341
And though Florida doesn’t have anywhere near the carries, the Gators are averaging over 15 yards per carry.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:33 pm #21342
3rd/4th down comparison:
USF: 4-6
UF: 0-1The Bulls have run 16 more plays than the Gators.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:34 pm #21343
These refs again. Called personal foul on No. 15 of the receiving team (Wingo), changed the call to 15 on the kicking team, then changed it back to Wingo.
Two personal fouls on UF tonight. Not making Napier’s goal of one penalty every 30 plays so far.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:34 pm #21344
Receiving, kicking, reciving.
Did the finally get it right?
- September 17, 2022 at 8:35 pm #21345
Napier has elected to continue through his RB rotation despite the monster run from Johnson last drive. Etienne is now in. Wright got the entirety of their first drive, MJ the second, Etienne now in for the third.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:35 pm #21346
Etienne has been a star through three games, but this one will be coming back. Here come the boos
- September 17, 2022 at 8:36 pm #21347
Another Florida penalty and a big run by Etienne is wiped out.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:37 pm #21348
Richardson finally puts the ball in the air, and to a familiar face. Trent Whittemore getting involved in the offense
- September 17, 2022 at 8:37 pm #21349
Big money Whittemore with (hard to believe) his first reception of the season. Another corner route that’s successful
- September 17, 2022 at 8:37 pm #21350
Whittemore finally gets on the board.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:37 pm #21351
That’s gotta feel good for AR. It’s a gain of 27 yards on the pass to Whittemore.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:38 pm #21352
What has impressed me the most about Etienne is his field vision. He doesn’t look like a true-freshman. Don’t get me wrong, he doesn’t look like a senior either, but he sure has talent.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:39 pm #21353
Shorter probably gets to that if he isn’t being held. Nice looking pass from Richardson.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:39 pm #21354
AR with back-to-back overthrows after dropping the 27 yard dime to Whittemore.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:39 pm #21355
AR seems to have fallen into the rut of relying on pre-snap reads again. Not a promising trend.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:40 pm #21356
AR making magic and getting the first down. Doesn’t look like any quicksand (Replacements reference) for the QB tonight.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:42 pm #21357
An observation about the offense: I have not seen a single one of those speed motions that go behind the running back in the pistol set (usually was Henderson). It has not worked at all through two games, and Napier must’ve noticed it.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:42 pm #21358
Give Wright credit for his pass blocking on the last play, but you can see he just doesn’t have the burst through the line of the other two backs.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:42 pm #21359
Another third down and another screen to Henderson. Going be a first down with a USF penalty
- September 17, 2022 at 8:43 pm #21360
2 screen passes to Xzavier Henderson this drive… neither of which have resulted in anything.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:43 pm #21361
Throw the ball into the stands there. Don’t take the loss when you have that much room
- September 17, 2022 at 8:43 pm #21362
Penalty on Matthew Hill of USF, immediately after the announcement was clapping towards his sideline
- September 17, 2022 at 8:44 pm #21363
A third-down screen to Henderson. This is officially a Florida football game.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:44 pm #21364
And Nay’Quan Wright with his first rushing touchdown of the season. Great edge blocking once again, this time by Austin Barber.
All four featured runners on the offense (Richardson, Wright, Johnson and Etienne) now have a rushing touchdown on the season.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:45 pm #21365
Wright off the right side of the line puts Florida back on top. The Gators are approaching 200 yards of offense.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:45 pm #21366
Nayquan Wright with a run to silence the fans who have been saying he should be third on the depth chart. Gators up 17-10.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:46 pm #21367
It’s a 12 play, 88 yard scoring drive for Florida capped off by a 7 yard Nay’Quan Wright TD.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:48 pm #21368
It seems we just can’t play good defense and good offense in the same game.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:48 pm #21369
Okay Napier is doinf something i wanted to see using the the rb’s . He gave uk too much respect by not running the ball enough. Thought that as his thing at Louisiana it so obvious in this game USF cannot stop the run.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:50 pm #21370
Trey Dean has had a great first half, saving this defense on multiple occasions. Just stopped what would have been a first-down-plus with a solo tackle on Bohanon, turning it into a loss of yards for USF — celebrates accordingly, of course.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:51 pm #21371
JALEN KIMBER MAKES HIS PRESENCE KNOWN. Great break and a great return. UF’s first pick-six I believe since Chauncey Gardner-Johnson in the 2018 Peach Bowl.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:51 pm #21372
The club on his left hand didn’t stop him that time. Kimber with the pick 6.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:52 pm #21373
Look at Kimber. From a zero (giving up the touchdown to Utah) to a hero (the big pick-six) in less than a week. Florida is up by two touchdowns.

First INT for a Gator DB since Jason Marshall vs. FSU last season.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:57 pm #21379
Avery Helm has shown an inability to fight through blocks on the edge. He has been manhandled by the Bulls’ receivers thus far.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:57 pm #21380
South Florida has now rushed for over 200 yards in the first half.
- September 17, 2022 at 8:59 pm #21381
Brenton Cox just isn’t fast enough to get to the outside against some of these backs for USF. He’s in the right spot, but speed is beating him
- September 17, 2022 at 8:59 pm #21382
USF is now 4-6 on 3rd down with less than a minute remaining in the first half
- September 17, 2022 at 9:00 pm #21383
Ok, a pass interference on the offense? I’m so confused
- September 17, 2022 at 9:01 pm #21384
Crowd is loving that …questionable…? offensive PI call. It moves USF from 2nd & 7 to 2nd & 22. The Swamp is roaring.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:02 pm #21385
Not saying it was a DPI on Johnson, but 99/100 times that call is on the defense. Interesting call nonetheless
- September 17, 2022 at 9:04 pm #21386
Burney almost had one.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:06 pm #21387
Avery Helm was almost given an early Christmas present on that throw. Gotta have it
- September 17, 2022 at 9:06 pm #21388
Helm has to come down with that one.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:06 pm #21389
Very confused why Avery Helm remains on the field. No facet of his game has been impressive so far.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:11 pm #21390
Lorenzo Lingard makes his first appearance… and it’s a kneel down.

It is a big concern that our defense still can’t get off the field.
However, could be worse. We could be Texas - September 17, 2022 at 9:36 pm #21396
Hell of a play by Richardson to pick up the first down, and the slide is the right thing to do.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:36 pm #21397
Should be noted that Montrell Johnson is getting the 2nd half start for Napier.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:36 pm #21398
That pick was not caused by anything but pure indecision on Richardson’s part.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:37 pm #21399
Richardson with a nice throw… to the wrong team. Tremendous pocket once again, but he’s just forcing the ball into coverage. Feet weren’t set either. Shades of Emory Jones the last two games.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:37 pm #21400
Leonard is in the game for White.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:37 pm #21401
Richardson two bad throws in a row, the second resulting in a pick.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:38 pm #21402
This team is just not very good. I’m afraid next week is going to be ugly.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:38 pm #21403
Richardson is talking one-on-one with Pearsall on the far sideline
- September 17, 2022 at 9:38 pm #21404
It’s a 37 yard return on the Anthony Richardson’s first INT of the night. USF will start their drive on Florida’s 18.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:39 pm #21405
Nice open field tackle by Shemar James and it’s third down.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:40 pm #21406
Amari Burney and Rashad Torrence both got ran over on that USF TD run.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:41 pm #21407
All three of Richardson’s interceptions this season have led directly to touchdowns. 21 total points in the last two games.
Now 24-21 with USF’s two-point trick play.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:41 pm #21408
Florida can never have anything nice. Richardson’s interception ends up in a touchdown and it’s down to a three-point game.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:41 pm #21409
Attendance tonight: 88,496
- September 17, 2022 at 9:42 pm #21410
This looks a lot like Filipe Franks to me.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:45 pm #21411
Richie Leonard IV in the game and commits a false start. The only sub OL in the game so far
- September 17, 2022 at 9:46 pm #21412
Leonard, in there for White, with the false start.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:47 pm #21413
Etienne has been the lead-back on this drive for Florida. Napiers gone with a steady diet of Wright, Johnson and Etienne so far on a mostly drive-by-drive basis.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:47 pm #21414
Remember what I said about no quicksand for Richardson tonight? I take it back. Back-to-back terrible drives for the QB
- September 17, 2022 at 9:47 pm #21415
Pearsall and Zipperer looked at eachother confused after that Anthony Richardson throw out-of-bounds on 3rd down.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:48 pm #21416
Kamari Wilson making an appearance tonight
- September 17, 2022 at 9:48 pm #21417
WTF was that? No pressure at all, and he sails it 10 feet over the head of everyone (though everyone was covered)
- September 17, 2022 at 9:49 pm #21418
Absolutely pathetic.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:49 pm #21419
Is Richardson getting in his own head again? He went from 8 of 10 (though they were short passes) to missing three out of his last four with a pick and three passes well off target.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:50 pm #21420
There hasn’t really been much misdirection so far, USF is just winning the battle on the line of scrimmage.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:51 pm #21421
Chris McClellon was hyped up after that tackle on 2nd down, talking to the sidelines.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:51 pm #21422
How about Chris McClellan on the last two plays. Two big stops
- September 17, 2022 at 9:51 pm #21423
Big play by the true freshman McClellan there on the stop.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:52 pm #21424
McClellan with another play.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:55 pm #21425
Some frustration and confusion on the sideline before the USF delay of game. Gators had multiple players run on and off the field to try and avoid having too many men on the field.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:55 pm #21426
Looks like Ethan White will come back in for Richie Leonard IV at LG
- September 17, 2022 at 9:57 pm #21427
Austin Barber with a nice pancake block, but Wright completely missed the open gap to the outside. Still a gain of four
- September 17, 2022 at 9:58 pm #21428
I’ll say this much, as much as Pearsall hasn’t had any impact in the passing game, he’s had some nice blocks on the outside to give his backs room to run.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:58 pm #21429
Bad time for a tight end to jump early.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:59 pm #21430
It feels like Johnson or Etienne would have hit that hole on the right side and had a first down there. Wright has lost a step.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:59 pm #21431
Richardson looks like he doesn’t want to throw at all, even when there’s a receiver open.
- September 17, 2022 at 9:59 pm #21432
- September 17, 2022 at 10:00 pm #21433
Okay, at this point, Napier has to be looking around the sideline for Kitna or Engel. This is getting scary, and Richardson seems to be on a decline.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:00 pm #21434
Another bad pass by Richardson and Florida will have to punt. It’s not good when the announcers tell the story of the opposing DC telling his DBs to beware of AR sailing passes.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:01 pm #21436
A three-star QB from Texas who wears No. 11 you say?? Something familiar about that…
- September 17, 2022 at 10:01 pm #21437
I think we are seeing why Emery Jones played so much last year.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:04 pm #21438
Jalen Kimber — outside of the obvious — has had a really good night. He’s covered multiple deep balls really well, most recently just there on 2nd down.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:05 pm #21439
Still no pass rush, but just a flat out overthrow by the USF quarterback.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:05 pm #21440
Barney with the stop on third down.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:06 pm #21441
A positive from tonight: Bohanon is 8-21 for only 62 yards.
Also- that tackle by Des Watson was pretty cool
- September 17, 2022 at 10:06 pm #21442
Well, Des Watson, that’s one way to close out the third quarter.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:06 pm #21443
You could feel the energy spike in this stadium after that tackle. MUCH needed play by Desmond Watson.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:07 pm #21444
There is nothing good regarding AR and throwing the ball.
His mechanics, footwork, zero touch on the ball. A deer in the headlights looks far more confident than him throwing the ball.
Next week Tennessee is going to blitz him over and over. - September 17, 2022 at 10:07 pm #21445
That looked like a mother grabbing a baby there. Watson with the big play.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:12 pm #21446
Using dominant rushing to open up the play-action passes. USF knocking on the door
- September 17, 2022 at 10:13 pm #21447
That was bad by Brenton Cox. Flew up field and the RB slips underneath
- September 17, 2022 at 10:13 pm #21448
I am losing faith in Napier.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:15 pm #21449
The Gators are making USF, who lost by 29 to BYU, look like a very competent opponent. The stands (especially the student section) are filling with frustration.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:15 pm #21450
Tennessee will hang 45 or more on us next week.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:16 pm #21451

Things Des Watson does: plugs gaps.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:17 pm #21453
In case you didn’t notice, Florida was shut out coming out of the half yet again. This is three straight third quarters where the Gators have been handled by the opposing team and kept out of the endzone.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:18 pm #21454
Brenton Cox, once again, beaten to the outside. Not a good night for No. 1
- September 17, 2022 at 10:20 pm #21455
It’s not over, and talent may win out in the end, but at this point, it’s looking more and more like the Bulls want it more. USF takes the lead 28-24. Win or lose, there are issues that need to be attended to, or other than Eastern Washington, there are no gimmes from here on out.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:21 pm #21456
USF’s scoring drives tonight:
12 plays, 81 yards (touchdown)
9 plays, 70 yards (field goal)
12 plays, 43 yards (field goal)
4 plays, 18 yards (touchdown, set up by INT)
11 plays, 51 yards (touchdown). - September 17, 2022 at 10:22 pm #21457
Good play by Richardson to get rid of that ball and live to fight another day.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:22 pm #21458
Ok Justin Shorter. Ok. UF might a passing offense. That might be Richardson’s longest pass this season.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:22 pm #21459
Richardson’s throw to Shorter was a gain of 30 yards. Maybe that can get AR going…
- September 17, 2022 at 10:23 pm #21460
There is a confidence builder for Richardson and a heck of a play by Shorter. Let your playmakers make plays. First down UF.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:24 pm #21461
Johnson with a team-high 85 yards on only five carries. Might be time to make No. 2 the No. 1 back
- September 17, 2022 at 10:25 pm #21462
As I say that, big run by guess who? Johnson. And a penalty by USF. Johnson now with 103 yards
- September 17, 2022 at 10:25 pm #21463
This game is establishing what I’ve believed to be true for 13 days now… Montrell Johnson is the best RB on Florida’s roster.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:26 pm #21464
Aaaaaaand, Richardson throws a pick in the endzone. Don’t get it. Why not run?
- September 17, 2022 at 10:26 pm #21465
What a freak’n run by Johnson to put Florida in a position to take the lead.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:26 pm #21466
AR gave his receiver zero chance on that fade. You have to put the ball up there if the corner is playing inside leverage. Yet another mistake.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:26 pm #21467
Ignorant coaching. Johnson could have run it in. Stupid play call.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:27 pm #21468
I mean, I understand trying to boost your QBs coaching, but that’s a Mullen mistake. You have to run it there with Johnson.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:28 pm #21469
In the second half, Anthony Richardson is 2 of 8 for 30 yards and two interceptions.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:32 pm #21470
Tre’Vez Johnson with a game saver. Now, run, run and no matter how much we all bitch (myself included) run some more.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:32 pm #21471
Anthony Richardson was pumping his fist on the sideline after that Gators INT with 6:51 remaining. Down 4, he’ll have a golden opportunity here with great field position to take back the lead. If the INT stands, that is — currently under review.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:32 pm #21472
Looking at the replay, not sure if Johnson got completely underneath it. Nonetheless, great pressure by Powell-Ryland and Cox to force a bad throw. Will either be Gator ball or fourth and long
- September 17, 2022 at 10:33 pm #21473
Wow call stands. How about that? Tre’Vez Johnson with a massive INT. Two interceptions for Gator DBs today.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:34 pm #21474
I believe that’s Johnson’s first INT since the Kentucky game last season
- September 17, 2022 at 10:35 pm #21475
Etienne in at RB here for Napier in crunch-time. Back-to-back carries on their first two plays of the drive — one for loss and one huge gain to make it 1st & goal.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:35 pm #21476
Feed 7. Just do it. He’s a true freshman, but he is the best thing on this offense.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:35 pm #21477
I said it once, I said it twice, heck I said it three times. Trevor Etienne is a star. Second TD of the season
- September 17, 2022 at 10:36 pm #21478
4 carries on that drive for Etienne. 4 plays on that drive for the Gators TD. UF now leads 31-28 with 5:05 to go.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:37 pm #21479
Florida gets on the board via the legs of Etienne. The Gators are up 31-28.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:39 pm #21480
28 yards in 1:46 for the Gators (a.k.a Trevor Etienne) on that scoring drive.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:41 pm #21481
Despite the struggles in the passing game, Henderson is the one up on the benches hyping the crowd up.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:42 pm #21482
Cox in the backfield on back to back plays.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:42 pm #21483
Alright well Etienne is strongly pushing back against my previous Montrell Johnson take.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:42 pm #21484
Tre’vez Johnson needed to play over top of that route. Poor attempt at an undercut, and it gave them a first down.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:45 pm #21486
With Etienne's TD, three of UF's RBs scored a rushing TD.
The last time 3 different UF players scored a rushing TD: Bama '21 (Jones, Davis, Pierce 2x)
The last time 3 different UF RBs scored a rushing TD: N. Texas '16 (Thompson, Scarlett, Perine, Cronkrite) @InsideTheGators

- September 17, 2022 at 10:45 pm #21487
USF RB Brian Battie has rushed 15 times for 142 yards and a TD thus far tonight — an average of just under 10 yards per carry.
- September 17, 2022 at 10:51 pm #21489
Was wondering which USF player was going to buckle under the pressure. The center was not my guess.

I feel bad for Richardson. He thought he was going to be a star this season and be off to the NFL in the next draft. Three games in and he has zero TD passes and four Ints. This is not how this was supposed to go.
