      Way to draw the charge their by Kugel. Hayden Brown was making it clear he wasn’t gonna stop putting on pressure, so Kugel read it well and forced the ref to call something. Vet play by the freshman.

      Castleton vs. GG Jackson’s was the storyline going into tonight. And, 4 minutes in, Colin’s dominating the matchup. Perhaps not on the statsheet; but, he’s simply making more impactful plays for his team here early on. Plus, his block on Jackson’s layup just a minute or two ago was an incredible recovery.

      Gators up 8-4 at the game’s first TO. Castleton’s got 6 on 3/3 shooting to go along with the big block on Jackson.

      Gators up 10-4 now after Jones’ free throws. Could easily be up as much as 12 if Lofton and Richard knocked down the open threes they took. Florida playing well thus far on both ends — specifically defensively.

      Jitoboh comes in for Castleton and immediately makes a great defensive play. It won’t show up on the stat sheet, but he stood his ground, showed both hands and forced their big into a heavily contested floater. Should be interesting to see how long Golden’s willing to keep Colin on the bench.

      Yes, he made it. Yes, he’s got one of the smoothest shots on this team so he can often get away with it. But Richard has to shoot the first one. He can’t think about it. Just let it fly. His shot is so quick that, if he does, nobody’s getting there.

      Bonham’s been hurting Florida defensively since he’s come in. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Golden pull him back out here out of this timeout. Castleton and Lofton are coming in. Castleton, presumably for Jitoboh. Lofton, possibly for Bonham; possibly for Richard.

      I’m not happy at all about Golden subbing out Reeves there. He looked to be starting to get comfortable out there and in a groove. I can’t stand when coaches don’t let their guys play through mistakes. Another few minutes could’ve potentially given him some real momentum.

      Florida’s defense on these PnRs has been awful. It’s always either a wide open three at the top or a easy drop-off pass from the big on the roll to the cutter. No fighting resistance on the screen or help D from the Gators.

      Possibly the largest reason why SC has kept it this close.

      It took Richard a second to realize, but once he finally did cut across the baseline and get out of Castleton’s way, a gap opened up and Colin got to the rim with ease.

      That should continue to be there if guys keep getting him the ball low and cutting through right away.

      Jones could’ve, and should’ve, went up with the right on the reverse right there. Nobody around — lefty finish wasn’t necessary. That’s just a matter of court awareness.

      Gamecocks star freshman GG Jackson has just 6 points on 2-7 from the field. SC as a whole is shooting just 35%.

      Good defense. Better offense. GG Jackson has the talent to do that; it’s just about exclusively limiting him to shots like those — making it as tough on him as you can. Thus far, I’d say the Gators have successfully done that.

      For as big as he is, I’ll tell ya, Jitoboh really doesn’t love contact down low. These baby floaters are falling tonight, so it’s “fine”; but, he just has so much of his game that remains to be unlocked because he seems unwilling to bang bodies around the rim when he touches the ball.

      The reason that happened is because Jitoboh is playing in no-man’s land on these PnRs. As a laterally-challenged big, you HAVE to choose to either play all the way up and hedge or play full-on drop coverage. You can’t try to play in the middle and recover because, when you do, things like that happen.

      Gators missing shots around the rim is what has led to them losing some momentum here. Still up double digits, though, there’s time to make a strong push. Maybe Reeves, who just subbed in as I’m typing this, can provide that spark.

      Golden was FIRED UP after the Myreon Jones fastbreak lay just now. Dapped about everybody on the roster up as they came to the bench for this timeout. Told Jitoboh to sub in. He’ll be in for Castleton coming out of the break,

      Gotta give a ton of respect to Niels for keeping his cool there. Looked like a clear flagrant 2 to me off first look at the replay. Florida players and fans seem to agree based off this place’s reaction to seeing the replay on the big screen.

      Fans are starting to exit the arena with the Gators up 26 and 3:38 remaining on the clock. Majority of them are coming out of the alumni section. Students don’t seem to be going anywhere.
