Missouri is No. 20 in the AP Poll, but only No. 44 in NET Ranking. And for all those fawning over Georgia’s W/L record, they are No. 103 in NET Ranking

Tigers win the tip, and we’re officially off here at O’Connell.

Mizzou showing the Gators a press right away. Given, it’s a pretty relaxed full-court press — but, pressure nontheless.

Tigers force a quick turnover and are off to a fast 7-0 start.

Florida looks lost here early. Down 9-0 after 2:12, Golden calls a timeout, looks to his bench and says “you. You. You.” Myreon Jones, Riley Kugel and Kowacie Reeves are now in with Lofton and Castleton.

What a recovery from Castleton there. Bit on the fake, stuck with his guy and got a piece of it at the rim.

Back-to-back misses on good shots from Reeves. This team needs him to knock those down when down early like this.

Finally, Florida gets on the board. Reeves finishes the fast-break with an and-1. Tigers’ lead is now 11-2, with a free throw coming up here after the timeout. Maybe this sparks the Gators’ offense.

While Reeves was missing that free throw, Lofton and Castleton — this team’s leaders — were on the other end of the court, seemingly talking up defensive strategy. Let’s see if the Gators can string together a couple of stops now.

Kugel has to put that up right away. Had his back toward the hoop and didn’t know how open he was. It’s plays like those that will come to him in time. The potential, as I know everybody says, is truly through the roof with him. Just needs to lock in on fundamentals, decision making and — in this case — court awareness.

Gators have missed a couple of open threes early on. Good shots — I’m sure Golden’s happy with them. Just not putting them through.

Not sure how visible it was on TV, but Castleton made that Kugel 3 happen. He called out the play as he was going to set Lofton that screen, telling Jones to cut once the ball was thrown in. Knew Kugel would get open and put it right where it needed to be. Scouts love plays like that.

Kugel knocks down another one and brings Florida within 7.

Golden’s irate after that Missouri possession. Telling refs there was a missed travel and then a missed charge. Personally, I’m with him on the missed travel; he slid on the floor. Not sure on the charge — could’ve gone either way.

That’s a great, unselfish play by Castleton to drop it off to Richard. Statsheet won’t show it, but Colin’s played a super positive game here thus far.

I feel very comfortable saying that without Colin, the Gators are down 10-15 right now.

Regardless of whether that’s the correct call or not (it was), the HUGE issue with it is how long the ref waited to call it. I’m sitting directly behind him and saw clear as day — he watched the ball go up and as soon as it rolled off the rim, that’s when he blew the whistle. Castleton was, fairly, very visually frustrated.

And not 30 seconds later, they call Castleton for another questionable one. This time an offensive foul on what appears to be a very impressive acting performance from the Missouri defender. Refs are reviewing the call now. This entire arena, fans and players alike, watched the replay and clearly didn’t agree with the original call.

After review, call stands. The reaction was, well, exactly what’d you’d expect. Nobody in this arena not wearing Black & Yellow is happy right now.

Everything Florida did there to handle Missouri’s pressure was perfect — up until Colin attempted a post hook over 4 defenders.

It’s a simple game at this point. Get the ball inside, wait for the double (or triple) and kick it out. The “kick it out” part is pretty important.

We may need to call a timeout so this announcer can fellate Kobe Brown

Man if Lofton just played with a bit more aggressiveness and urgency… because he is just so skilled and has such a great mind for the game. And I don’t just mean offensively. To force a jump ball there, as comfortably as he did and as in bad of a position as he was in — deep under the rim against the opposing center — is incredibly impressive.

Smooth. Lofton creates space beautifully there and knocks down the open 3. Gators take the lead for what I believe is the first time today.

Looked like the Gators were in a 2-3 zone there defensively for a few possessions. Back in man now. Not sure if Golden didn’t like what he was seeing or just wanted to throw a different look at the Tigers.

Sloppy turnover. Far too lackadaisical in far too big of a spot. Gators’ offense needs to play with some urgency. Not rushed, not sloppy, but like this game is of the utmost importance to them. Because, well, it should be.

Shouldn’t have bee a shooting foul. But if you’re a Gator fan, you’ll gladly take it. Castleton shooting two, looking to tie this thing back up at 45.

Wow did Florida get lucky there. If Mizzou knocks that corner three down, they’re up five with major momentum. Instead, Myreon Jones comes on the other end and hits one himself (he’s really been coming on lately). Now the Gators lead 48-47.

Colin is such a vet. Catches the ball as it comes out of the net after every layup, so subtly, to slow down Missouri’s offense by just a second. Which, may not seem like that big of a deal by the sound of it; but, it does affect the speed of the game — ever so slightly.

Colin Castleton hits the 1,000 point mark as a Gator with his 12 thus far today. Jumbotron here shows a graphic for it and he receives an ovation. Well deserved, but there’s still a lot of game left here to play.
