Forum OwnerAfter being bused to practice during the spring, players walked or drove over to the practice field for today's first practice of fall camp. Black replaces Orange as the non contact jersey. The only position player I saw in Black was Jonathan Odom.

ITG StaffReceivers are working on short cut routes. No drops, and Kahleil Jackson had a nice grab

ITG StaffNapier and Juluke just ripped into Lorenzo Lingard for a lazy route, fixed right away.
Only one drop in the receiver-quarterback curl route drill (Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman).

ITG StaffAnother observation from spring to now: the coaches certainly are not afraid to get onto the players about mistakes while the media was there.
In spring, a lot of huddling up and one-on-one conversation.
Today, I’ve seen Napier, Juluke, Colbert and Peagler publicly get onto players for mistakes, freshmen and seniors.
Now- don’t take that as a “wow, they’re really making a lot of mistakes.” That’s not the case at all. But when they do happen, the coaches aren’t afraid to get onto them. Accountability extremely important.

ITG StaffSome final thoughts about the offense: in the brief 15 minutes we were given access, things looked a lot better than spring. Players were focused in drills, only one drop by the receivers (after looking at the video, it was actually bobbled and scooped before it hit the ground), quarterbacks made some good throws and the TE and OL did a good job of practicing calling audibles at the line.
Take it as a grain of salt. It’s only Day 1 of Fall Camp, but some early bright spots. Coverage of defense tomorrow.

ITG StaffAnother observation: Noah Keeter, Griffin McDowell and Dante Zanders are still with the tight ends. Their position change from the spring looks to be permanent, despite UF finally having Boardingham and Hansen on campus.
McDowell and Zanders (especially Zanders) lost a good amount of weight to get in TE shape:
Griffin McDowell -9 pounds
Dante Zanders -29 poundsAugust 3, 2022 at 5:35 pm #18616Cam Parker
ITG StaffFinal observation: everything is so far so good in the healthy area. Only three players (all still dressed out and participated to some extent), not including specialists or QBs, in black non-contact jerseys.
Big difference compared to spring when the team, especially the TE room, dealt with a plethora of injuries.

ITG SubscriberThe one bad trait in Chiaokhiao-Bowman’s tape is that he lets the ball get into his body too often (but has FANTASTIC footwork).
Finishing the route so crisply in a drill that he’s waiting for the ball to reach him is a perfect recipe for that trait to reveal itself.

ITG StaffUpdate: (I did not see) Ricky Pearsall came up limping on his final route of the open period, but returned to practice after, per Zach Goodall of SI All Gators, G. Allan Taylor of The Athletic, and Edgar Thompson of the Orlando Sentinel.

The first is of the players arriving, the second was taken during the open practice period.

ITG SubscriberI’ve never thought Napier would me a milque toast when it came to getting on player. He’s a coach after all. There’s fire in that calm demeanor.

ITG SubscriberDidn’t the coaches say that they were giving them buses to practice to save putting miles on their legs?
I know I read that.
Why stop now when saving their legs is the most important right before the season?
