I don’t know if they have any kind of relationship but I hope Napier is looking to Collins as a DC since he got fired today.
Toney hasn’t done anything plus he’s the safety coach and that’s our worst position.
Collins killed it here.

Bring Collins in as co-DC if necessary. He is a big time DC

Collins will be a great DC somewhere but I think it’s way too early be giving up on Toney. I think he’s a really good one.

I would be all in on Collins. We played winning defense when he was here.

My concern with Toney is that after an entire spring, camp in August and four weeks into the season there are a lot of plays where our guys do not know their assignments. That should not still be the case. A lot of these defensive failures are not talent based, they are players out of position or confusion in coverage.

Yall forget that Collins was coaching with Muschamp defensive scheme and players.

I say we hire Romeg8r to personally criticize every position and figure out what we all need to do. He seems to know everything about the team better than the coaches.

It seems early to be giving up on any coach. They haven’t even gotten their bump class players yet.

Really.. Napier and Toney have a long relationship. I assure you Toney is not the problem.. We need some better players. I think we have some young talent there. Hopefully they will get more playing time. Go Gators ? ?

How is he not the problem? He is the DC and our D has dropped off a cliff. He is as bad as Grantham.
Napier needs to get this fixed and don’t hang on to coaches because he likes them or he’ll find himself out the door like Mullen sticking with his friends too long.

Collins would make a great addition to the staff, but it’s too early to replace Toney. We have too many upperclassmen that are either not top tier talent or are unable to break bad habits from previous poor coaching. We have a stellar defensive class in the works and need a couple more commitments to complete the haul of top tier talent. CBN needs time to turn this roster before we can evaluate the effectiveness of our coaches and scheme

The truth is Tech’s Defense has been worse than ours and Collins benefited from Muschamps recruiting when he was here before. Hire him as an analyst if at all.

Even if it isn’t Collins we need someone better than Toney.

If Toney plays off receivers against SEC teams like he has been sk dar it will get ugly.
