Smart just finished. Napier is up now.

On playing Utah: “Certainly excited about the opportunity to play a formidable opponent.”

Says Utah HC Kyle Whittingham is one of the best coaches in the country.

On special teams: “We call our special teams ‘game changers.’

Says it’s about the intangibles and it creates opportunities for defense and offense to play together while giving reps to “rookies” and walk-ons.

Said they probably spend more time than most teams practicing special teams.

“If you want to have a good time, you have to be able to cover kicks and make game-changing plays.”

Adds that while the specialists are pretty much set, they haven’t decided on a kick returner.

    On position battles:

Said that UF rotates a lot of position, and he will release the depth chart tonight.

“It’s probably easier to talk about the positions that aren’t rotational.”

Says with the youth and inexperience, a lot of positions will be rotating throughout the game on Saturday.

On the heat and humidity in the Swamp: “I don’t think we control that… Our focus as a team is in our preparation.”

Says execution will ultimately win the game, not the heat and humidity.

On what impresses him the most about Utah: “I think they’ve got an identity.”

Says they know who they are in all three phases of the game and are balanced offensively. Adds that they have plenty of veterans on roster, namely QB Cameron Rising.

On what he anticipates on the atmosphere at the Swamp: “I think it’s one of the great things about the University of Florida. We’ve got one of the best game day venues in college football.”

Says the history, tradition, students and alumni make the Swamp what it is due to UF changing people’s lives.

Paraphrase: It (UF experience) makes people want to come back.

“I’m looking forward to experiencing it for the first time on this side.” (Only game at UF was in 2011 with Alabama)

“I think we’ve got a lot of players in contention for a certain number of playing time.”

Says they will continue to observe and evaluate who will get playing time based on performance.

    Napier is done.

Next up: Napier and players press conference tonight at 6:30 p.m. I will most likely be physically in attendance, but will definitely be providing coverage on the forum either in person or from the YouTube livestream.
