Napier has arrived.
“We continue to get really high quality work.”
Says they’re still working on installation, but have miles to go.
Adds that they’ve got some momentum building that they look to carry towards the first scrimmage on Saturday.
Today is also the first day in full pads.

On the new building: Says it’s more about the player experience rather than recruiting

On the quarterbacks: Says there’s no question that Anthony Richardson’s confidence, both on the field and with the playbook has grown tremendously.
“I think his feet are in the right place because he’s processing quicker.”
Jack Miller III: Says they gave him some reps with the first team to get him more comfortable and said he did really well.
Kitna: Says Kitna has made the most growth since spring. Is dealing with an injury that needed a small procedure (why he missed yesterday). Will be back soon.
Brown: Calls him the rookie of the group and said there’s still some development to do.
Engel: Earned a scholarship for the spring and summer semester and provides good depth.
Overall, says there’s two guys in the room who can win now, and they’re still working on identifying the third guy.

On the discipline and correcting penalties from last year: “We want to eliminate the chinks in the armor.”
Says the goal is to have one penalty every 30 plays, with the penalties being “technical” rather than “undisciplined.”

On Florida’s recent history of struggling with penalties:
Says it’s a whole lot bigger. Points out since Florida last went to the SEC championship in 2009 (13 years ago), Florida has only won the East three times.
“There’s obviously things that can improve.”
Said it had a lot to do with the evaluation of the job and how he could change the program.

On the difference of the level or talent between Louisiana and Florida.
Said it’s about evaluating skill level and football IQ not talent of each player and using that to formulate a plan going forward.
“I think at Florida, you get more of a finished product.”

On wearing the guardian caps on helmets:
Said that multiple schools have used them in the past, but the NFL has been driving its use the most. Said the data (20% safer) led them to implement it for all players, not just those on the offensive and defensive line.
“Certainly excited to be one of several teams to use them.”

Mike Peterson’s foundation held an event yesterday with coaches’ wives, including Napier’s.
Says it starts with figuring out your purpose. Said that they have opportunities to give back to those in need.
“These are things that are critical, and I’m hopeful we can do more of it.”
Napier is done. That concludes the press conference.
