Kirby Smart has joined the call.

On Stetson Bennett and his recent success: Said that being “the guy” on campus hasn’t changed him as he’s always been competitive and enjoyed playing the game.

On backup QB Carson Beck: Said he’s done a nice job in limited reps and in the film room. Said they’ve made it important to get him reps in preparation should something happen to Bennett (took a couple big hits against Vanderbilt)

On the UGA offensive line: Said that the entire line (starters and depth) have many different strengths at different times, so they try to take advantage of that

On coming out of the tunnel in Jacksonville: “The locker room’s different obviously.”

He says that the 50/50 of the game (Florida/Georgia) is obviously different, too.

Smart is done. Napier up next

Napier will not be speaking tonight at the PC, so here’s what Napier expects depth chart wise:

No changes except O’Cyrus Torrence being more available. Rotations may changes, but starters/backups should be the same.

Here’s a Jermaine Burton question. Would he have suspended Burton if he was on the team?

Said he’s not into hypotheticals and he’s got a lot more to worry about than someone else’s problem.

On recruiting Bennett to Louisiana when he was in the portal:

Said he had a nice skill set, but the way he played with a chip on his shoulder stood out (confidence level as a result of hard work, etc.).

Added that he’s proud of him and the way he’s found success.

On Todd Monkin and UGA’s offense: Using personnel wisely, especially at the tight end position. Added that they’re efficient on 1st and 2nd down (no need for third down) as well as in the red zone.

On Kamari Wilson: “If we were giving out awards for approach to practice the last two weeks, he’d probably get one.”

Said that he’s developed strongly as a man-to-man safety and as a zone coverage and tackler.

On the true freshmen seeing the field early: “They’ve earned it.”

Said it extends to off-field stuff such as general life, team meetings, etc.

On why Kirby Smart has had success: People he’s hired, pedigree of those he’s coached with (Saban) and staying the course.

Added that the variables such as recruiting played into it as well.

On the Florida-Georgia rivalry for him growing up:

Said he’s never been to one personally, but knows how important the rivalry is even for non-UF/UGA fans in the south. His focus right now is doing anything he can to put his team in successful spots.

Napier is done. He will not speak at the PC tonight (players only). He will next be available Saturday night after the game ends.
