    Although the win was good, Napier said the effort and physicality was good but the team has a lot of work to do.

    Napier said that they have to evaluate the film objectively and independent of the result. Meaning, they did a lot of good things on Saturday, but he says there are glaring improvement that need to be made.

    On evaluating the run-defense: Says he has a lot of respect for Utah for their aggressiveness.

    Said the team needs to line up correctly and communicate more effectively. Said one player that is misaligned can cause a defense to be exposed.

    On Saturday’s win kickstarting progress: “I think it helps when you’re new and trying to do things a different way.”

    Says that people want to see progress both on and off the field. Napier says that Saturday, they were able to see that progress was being made, but that they have a ton of more work to do.

    Said he had a near-perfect game (said he should’ve thrown an INT on one play), but said he made a lot of good decisions despite being jittery early one.

    Said that they have good fundamentals with unique players (not highly recruited but talented nonetheless).

    On putting a product on the field that helps recruiting: Said having an atmosphere like the Swamp, the infrastructure of the program and being a top-five university in a classic college town gives them an advantage that they want to capitalize on.

    On Desmond Watson: “Des is a work in progress.” Said he is making commitments on eliminating some habits and is slowly stepping up. Napier said he needs to continue doing that as he’s a unique player who is critical to the defense.

    Napier is done. He will next speak at the SEC teleconference Wednesday morning and then a press conference that night.

    On staying grounded after a big win: Said that they just have to focus on the task at hand and get 1% better every day.

    On Napier keeping him in after fumbling his first carry: Said Napier and his teammates lifted him up and put their trust in him.

    Said he’s probably going to remember that fumble for a long time and that he and Trevor Etienne will pay their dues for their fumbles.

    On the atmosphere: Said it definitely affected Utah’s offense and defense and changed the outcome of the game. Said he’s never heard a crowd that loud before.
