Napier is here. Noted that today’s practice was better than yesterday’s. Said he told the team there’s no better opportunity than to be well-prepared.
“There’s no better feeling in this game than trying to be a loyal and dependable teammate.”

On Jaydon Daniels: Said the number one concern is overall ability to run and pass the ball. Said he’s got a good arm with great accuracy. Said he does a good job of taking off and running when needed.

On the tempo of the offense: says there’s no plan to lighten up the tempo and go more conservative.
Defensively, said the biggest issue is getting off the field.
On the kicking game: Said that with the missed kicks all being long-range, they have to reevaluate their strategy. Essentially, play to the kicker’s range. Said that Trey Smack could potentially kick long-range field goals down the line, but said that Mihalek is still the best FG kicker and Smack is the best KO kicker.

On Richardson’s performance against LSU last season and how they plan to get “that player” back: “I think it’s part of him growing as a player, and I think it’s all position groups growing around him as well.”
Said that the team is improving week-to-week film-wise, even with some sloppiness in year one.
O’Cyrus Torrence was listed as “questionable” on the depth chart. Napier said that they just wanted to be honest on the depth chart since he’s missed some practice, but he should be good to go on Saturday.

On the UF-LSU rivalry: Said that nothing in the past will affect Saturday’s game.
On Brian Kelly: Said he’s been a very consistent coach as he wins everywhere he goes. Said he respects his focus on the fundamentals.

On Jack Miller III: Said he’s cleared to participate, but he hasn’t been able to take reps. Said that although he’s listed as the No. 2 quarterback on the DC, he probably isn’t going to be the backup on Saturday.

On having two on-field OL coaches: “Teams have five DBs on the field at the same time and have two coaches. Why wouldn’t we have that for five offensive linemen?”
Said that it’s been successful in the past, and it’s working again at UF.

On the season to this point: “I think I’m doing pretty well.”
Said that the unit is doing well, but they have a lot of room for improvement, mainly communication.
Said there’s usually 10 people doing their job and one who messes up, which causes the miscues.

On containing Jaydon Daniels: Said it comes down to knowing where he is when he runs and communicating everyone’s roles.
“If you’re supposed to be in C gap, be in C gap.”

On facing the double teams this season: Said that it’s a combination of the OL’s gameplan where he just needs to eat it, but he’s also put himself in bad spots by coming off the ball late or hitting the guard.

On Ventrell Miller’s performance: Said it wasn’t too much of a shock as he practices the exact same way. Communication-wise, he described him as a quarterback as he’s always talking to the defense.

LSU rushed for over 300 yards last season. Dexter, once again, said it comes down to communication.

On his snap count this season: “I don’t think it should impact my play.”
Said his snap count should go down as the younger guys (name dropped Chris McClellan) continues to earn the trust of the coaches. Said that it would open up opportunities for himself.

Said he’s very familiar with the Florida-LSU rivalry with watching the game last season and what his teammates say.

The inevitable: Pearsall’s QB last season at ASU was Daniels. He said they’ve talked more this week than before since he committed to UF.
Added that they’ve exchanged some trash talk. Pearsall also gave some advice to the defense, mainly Gervon Dexter, on how to stop Daniels.
“I warned (Daniels), Big G is coming.”

On the run game in the second half against Mizzou: Said it also helps the passing offense as a D will load the box, which would open up the passing game.
On the LSU defense: Said they do a lot of pressing, so their battles will begin at the line of scrimmage.
Said Corey Raymond and some of the veteran corners have relationships with the DBs at LSU, and they’ve given some tidbits for Saturday.
