On last years team: said they focused on the individual players that were returning rather than Mike White’s scheme. Said they wanted to get a feel of what each player can do
On Trey Bonham: said they keep a stat called “virtual assists”- when you would’ve gotten an assist but the player missed the shot. Said that Bonham’s patience and play-making has been the biggest thing. Said he does need to improve on his starts and organizing at the beginning of possessions and needs to be a ball-hawk on defense.
Said that that’s what makes Kyle Lofton an elite point guard while Bonham isn’t quite there yet
- October 18, 2022 at 12:25 pm #23842
On Kyle Lofton: he’s a true point guard. Organizer on offense and defense. Said its like having another coach on the court. Hovde coached against him before and said his toughness stood out.

- October 18, 2022 at 12:31 pm #23844
On Riley Kugel: a basketball savant. Said that Kugel has been elite considering he didn’t practice in the summer and hasn’t made a lot of those “freshman mistake”/“habits” that some guys make.
- October 18, 2022 at 12:33 pm #23845
Will Richard is here: said that he’s been watching film and staying attentive in practice due to his injury.

On the depth: said that that’s an advantage for the team
On his injury: went for a rebound, slipped on a wet spot, knee went in a bit. He screamed and thought it was serious but he’s thankful that it wasn’t serious.
Said he’s been testing his limits out in practice but hasn’t had much
- October 18, 2022 at 12:37 pm #23847
Alex Fudge: craziest thing he’s seen is when Fudge was underneath the basket and closed-out and blocked a shot from passed the 3PT line. Said he’s never seen anything like that before
On choosing Florida: relationships with the staff. Said they wanted to get to know him as a person with as a player. Genuineness
- October 18, 2022 at 12:42 pm #23849
Alex Fudge is here
Dunk on CJ: said it was crazy. He did it before and he wants to do it again. CJ told him he’d get him back.

Said that his motor goes a long way to improving it
- October 18, 2022 at 12:45 pm #23851
Adds that consistency on the court also comes from consistency off the court. Creating good Habits away leads to good habits on the court
- October 18, 2022 at 12:46 pm #23852
On his biggest improvement since high school: conditioning. Said he used to only be able to run up and down the court 7 times. It was a mindset issue, but now he doesn’t think about being tired anymore.

- October 18, 2022 at 12:48 pm #23853

On a 3PT shooting contest. Said it’d be between Richard, Reeves and Jones, but Richard would probably win.

- October 18, 2022 at 12:53 pm #23856
Trey Bonham is here.
On the last two weeks: said it’s definitely helped him a lot because he got more reps. When Richard first went down he struggled with the reps at PG as he didn’t know all of the offense
- October 18, 2022 at 12:55 pm #23857
On being a play-maker: said he feels like an all-around guard as he can drive, shoot and pass.
On Castleton: “Offensively, he can’t be stopped.” Chuckled as he mentioned how he can shoot step-back 3s. Defensively, there’s trust that he can help if someone messes up
- October 18, 2022 at 12:57 pm #23858
On Riley Kugel and Denzel Aberdeen:
Said Kugel is a freak of nature with his athleticism.
Said Denzel is a good play-maker but a little timid.
- October 18, 2022 at 1:00 pm #23859
On what’s a good shot: Said the staff has emphasized not being in a hurry to get a shot off. Also passing off a good shot for a great shot. You may be able to drive in, but if you can draw defenders in and kick it out, that’s a better shot
- October 18, 2022 at 1:02 pm #23860
On the competition to get in the rotation: said that they separate from first team and second team, but that there are days the second team smacks them in the mouth.
