I’m sitting here trying to think if anyone who started for us last year is going to get beaten out by a new starter this year.

Emory Jones would have been the first choice but he’s already gone.

Who else could lose a starting job?
        Whittemore to Pearsall?

        Anyone else in danger?

Does the Georgia transfer have a chance to beat out helm? Marshall should have elams spot locked down.

No way Whitt loses his job. He’s has a knack for getting open and making plays. I could see Henderson losing his snaps to Pearsall or Weston. Burney should lose snaps to Black.

Who started at MLB with Miller out? They will lose their starting job.

Torrence will start but Reese graduated so he isn’t losing his job.

If Wright is considered a starter he is losing the RB starting job to Johnson.

No one else comes to mind.

Dean, Johnson and Torrence in the secondary should all have players challenging them to take their starting spot.

We can be pretty good at corner but we don’t have SEC caliber safeties.

That group misses more tackles than they make and aren’t much better against the pass.

With a wing and a prayer, our entire defense should be much better prepared to play and make tackles this season. Some of them could hardly get lined up last season before the ball was snapped and the tackling was not there. I attribute that to the coaching as we looked ill prepared much of the time. Most of last year’s staff was kind of “checked out” with DM and just seemed to be going through the motions. From what was displayed during the spring game, you could actually see the onfield improvements as well as the development of players on both sides of the ball. Hopefully this continues into the upcoming season with total buy in and a relentless effort on the part of all the players. They really seem to be enjoying playing for this staff. Those who haven’t, we’ll, they seem to have “left the building” by entering the portal.

I will say this. I’m watching the Orange and Blue game again. Something was missing with Bowman.
