Going by the participation report on the official box score, Florida only played five Class of 2026 signees.

On the one hand, that is a low number considering the quality of the opponent, the score, and the fact that there is no redshirt rule to worry about now that there's the 5-for-5 rule.

On the other hand, when I was doing my season preview Take Five, one of the categories was potential impact freshmen, and I had to do away with it because I seriously couldn't come up with five signees who I could see getting more than nominal playing time this season.

Last year against Long Island, 14 true freshmen played. Two years ago against Miami, eight true freshmen played.

Naturally, because there are travel squad limits, you wouldn't expect to see many true freshmen unless they were in the two-deep rotation, see snaps in an SEC road game.

I still would have thought that with programs no longer having to worry about redshirt rules, you would have seen a few more getting game action in the first two warmups.

What UF needs is to have this Save College Act pass to limit potential transfers after the season. Or, if they feel like maybe a couple of the signees aren't capable of contributing at this level, maybe they don't want to see it passed, so they can jettison a few of them?

Once again, three Class of 2026 signees played on Saturday.

With Heze Kent sitting out, we are now down to only two signees who have played in every game.

Safety Purter - who was the new staff's lone HS scholarship addition and long snapper Anderson.
