Diabate, Greenard Nab SEC Player of the Week Honors
Mohamoud Diabate and Jonathan Greenard tally SEC honors after Saturday's shutout win over Vanderbilt

GAINESVILLE, Fla. The Southeastern Conference announced their weekly football honors on Monday, as Mohamoud Diabate was named Co-Freshman of the Week, while Jonathan Greenard was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week for their defensive efforts in Saturday's 56-0 win over Vanderbilt.

The honors serve as Florida's sixth defensive SEC honors, while marking the eighth SEC Player of the Week selections for Florida overall this year.

Freshman linebacker Mohamoud Diabate put out a career performance on Saturday, recording a career-high 3.0 sacks for a loss of 27 yards. On one of his sacks, Diabate would force a fumble that led to Jonathan Greenard's 80-yard touchdown return in the third quarter.

The touchdown marked the Gators' first defensive score of the season, as Greenard's return marked the longest return since Quincy Wilson's 79-yard return against Missouri in 2016. Greenard also finished with three tackles to aid Florida's third shutout of the season.

The Gators travel to Columbia, Mo. this Saturday for their final SEC East matchup with Missouri at noon on CBS.
