UF MBK: Castleton Named to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award Watch List

GAINESVILLE, Fla. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame recognized Florida senior Colin Castleton on Friday as one of 20 watch list members for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award. Named after Class of 1995 Hall of Famer and three-time NCAA Champion Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the annual honor in its eighth year recognizes the top centers in men's college basketball.

Castleton, named to the preseason All-SEC team earlier this week, averaged 12.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots per game last season and is one of seven seniors on Florida's veteran roster in 2021-22.

College basketball fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting in each of the three rounds. In late January, the watch list of 20 players for the 2022 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award will be narrowed to 10 and then in late February to just five. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Abdul-Jabbar and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected. Players can play their way onto and off of the list at any point in the season.

I'm always excited for basketball season, I'm generally less excited for mike whites in game adjustments. Colin hopefully has a monster year and can get drafted.

Well we could have Dandy Dan coaching basketball. That would be a recipe for disaster. AKA similar to the football cluster whack.
