GAINESVILLE, Fla. Florida announced today that it has added a three-game series with UCF to its schedules for the 2024, 2030 and 2033 football seasons. The Gators will face the Knights in Gainesville in 2024 and 2033, and UF will make the short trek to Orlando in 2030.

The two in-state foes have only met twice as Florida has won both contests. The teams first played in 1999, when the Gators raced to a 58-27 victory. In the second game of the 2006 National Championship season, Florida blanked UCF, 42-0. Both games were played in Gainesville.

Over the next decade, the future non-conference opponents feature Notre Dame, Texas, Utah, Cal, Colorado, Arizona State, and NC State, on top of in-state foes Miami, USF, and the annual matchup against Florida State.

Future Power Five Non-Conference Opponents (by year)

  • 2022: Utah, at Florida State

Can we assume those Texas games will be rescheduled after expansion? Or will they just work them into a revamped schedule somehow? Just curious.

In my opinion, this wasn't an attractive series to begin with. UCF is more of a one off type of program. You don't go 2 for 1 with them, you certainly don't go 1 for 1.

Now if expansion of the SEC means there are now nine conference games, FSU makes 10 and now do you really want another in state home to make 11 of 12?

It's not attractive for us. I don't think our fan base wanted to listen to UCF fans act like we were ducking them. Beat them 3 times and move on!

They'll play Texas regardless now, perhaps just not in those years
