He continues talking about Emory's physical growth and how Jones plays strong at his size. He says that physicality and ability to stay healthy taking hits and running in the pocket is more important than Jones putting on more weight.

Mullen is ending his third spring. He talks about the development of the program heading into year four. He says that he is never satisfied and always wants to get better. Three straight new year's six bowls and an SEC Championship appearance is good standards for Mullen heading into another season.

Mullen goes back to talking about quarterbacks. He wants everyone to take a break physically and mentally for a week. "We are going to have a great offseason," he says. He adds that one of the most crucial things is watching film and being able to self-correct. "It's so critical for each individual guy to learn how to develop."

He jokes that if you are not taking away anything from your own film, you might as well be watching Spongebob.

The attitude and energy of the team is critical, Mullen mentions. "We may not have the household name players like Kyle Pitts," Mullen says. He adds that this team had a huge amount of depth and that's why not having household names is nota negative.

There's not one guy teaching the young guys. There are a lot of returning guys pulling all the other guys. It varies from group to group. From the offensive to the defensive to the secondary to the receivers. It's an affect that goes all the way through the group, Mullen explains the leadership roles.

Mullen discusses the sour note the defense ended on last year. 'I look at every little detail and look at what was bad and what was good on the defensive side of the ball." He says that overall the defense has had a very good spring. He adds that adjustments and improvements are being made in the areas the defense suffered in 2020.

"I think having a spring certainly helps," Mullen says on being able to put players into positions and starting positions come fall. He adds that having a spring this year makes it easier to evaluate the entire team to see the plays they can make and plays they can't make as well.
