It’s still early, but one of the biggest instate names in the Class of 2025 looks to be Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy linebacker Gavin Nix.
The 6-foot, 225-pounder already has offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Michigan and Penn State.
On Saturday, he visited Florida for the Gators’ Junior Day.

QUICK Q&A
Who came with you on your visit?
“I visited with my mom and dad.”
How did the visit go as far as how long were you on campus and what all did you do?
“The visit went great. I was able to tour the entire football facility and meet and talk with each person who ran each part. After that I was able to talk with Coach [Billy] Napier.”
What was the coach’s message to you?
“The coaches’ message to me was us to focus on life after football. I really loved that because I’m actually focusing on making as many opportunities as I can for myself off the field because what I do on the field isn’t going to last forever.”
What was the highlight of the day?
“The highlight of my day was getting to talk with Coach Napier, that was the first time I was able to talk to him in person. It was great to be able to soak in knowledge from him.”
What did he have to say to you?
“Coach Napier asked about my progress at IMG and how was I liking it? We talked about the camp I attend last summer and how he was impressed with me. We also talked about life after football.”
Did you get a chance to meet up or interact with any current players? If so, who and what did they say to you?
“I was able to talk to a few players. A player that I chopped it up the longest with is Derek Wingo. We really just had a little trash-talking, high school, talk about our schools and then we talked about how great UF is.”
What are your thoughts of the new football facilities? What stood out about it to you?
“The new facilities are great, I love how it has everything in it for the athletes to be the best version of themselves.”
What are your thoughts about Florida after taking this visit?
“I’m loving Florida. Since the first time I’ve been to Florida, they’ve always shown me great love and hospitality and I can’t thank them enough for that.”
Any other planned visits for the next couple of months?
“I don’t have any solidified dates of going anywhere yet, but I am planning on visiting a few other places.”
Do you have any early leaders? Where does Florida stand right now?
“Florida most definitely stands high up on my list of schools because I always say to myself that I want to go somewhere where I feel wanted and UF does a great job at doing that.”
