To kick off the end of the recruiting dead period Florida invited some of their top targets to campus over the weekend – including Evans (Ga.) 2025 four-star offensive tackle Mason Short.

The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder shared his thoughts on the Saturday visit.

QUICK Q&A

Who came on the visit with you?
“My mom and dad came with me.”

What was the day like as far as what all took place?
“We got there early in the morning and stayed all day. I went to the position meeting while my parents got a tour of the facility, then we went to watch practice. “

What coach or coaches did you speak with the most and what is the Florida staff’s message to you at this point?
“Coach [Cheston] Blackshear showed us around after practice then I had a meeting with Coach [Rob] Sale and coach [Darnell] Stapleton. At the end of the visit I was able to meet with Coach [Billy] Napier.”

What was the highlight of the day?
“Honestly, when Anthony Richardson ran his 40 during the Combine and Coach Napier came out of his office to watch. It was pretty cool watching a coach cheer on his player as he was running.”

What was it like to see practice? What were your impressions of it?
“Practice was run very well and efficient. I spent most of the time watching the offensive line. I didn’t speak to any current players.”

What are your thoughts on the new football facilities?
“The new facilities were impressive, they were designed intentionally for efficient workouts. Everything was nice and new.”

What are your thoughts about Florida after taking this visit?
“I enjoyed my visit. Everyone was welcoming and appreciated us making the drive down. The coaching staff was great and I liked everything they had to say. They were complimentary of me and my playing style.”

Do you have any early leaders?
“I am still very early in this process and I’m just visiting colleges now and keeping all my options open. I look forward to going to Florida again.”

Short is the No. 28 ranked prospect in the nation according to the On3 Consensus.
